Apex Display Unit Dead

We lost power the other day and my display unit seems to be fried....it smells like a burnt out appliance. The smell was really strong at first and I didn't know what it was. Four to five hours later I saw that my display was dead and realized the smell was coming from it.

I've tried to update my display module to no avail. I also ran the latest firmware to see if that helped. Does anyone else have suggestions? The unit is two years old as of last week.

Bah...apparently my display firmware update didn't go through the first 3 times I tried. This last time I tried....it apparently worked!

I've also have a display unit that seems to be dead. The rest of the system is working fine and the computer interface is working just the display is not lighting up at all. Should I try a firmware update? I've never done that as this unit is only about 6 months old.
