Today I finally purchased and installed my apex gold. Yaay. Now I know that I shouldn't get too hung up on the ORP reading but from what I've read, mine is particularly low at 172. Should I be concerned?

no, give it a week and it will go higher, and if it doesn't you still should not worry!!!

You just installed it today, it will take a few days if not a week for the readings to stabilize. Leave it along for now.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I feel better. Though it looks like I'm going to spend all day programming this thing. It's more complicated than I realized!!!!

Same was with me in relation to apex gold ORP, but as said in the forum earlier it ORP gradually gone up from 153 to 234 in 8 days

It will gradually increase. ORP is a cool parameter in my opinion. Limited in some ways but another tool in the ol' toolbox when researched and understood properly.

ORP is one of of those things that seems worthwhile in concept, but is essentially useless in practice. I suppose if one were using ozone, it might be marginally helpful; but otherwise not. My tank typically sits around 300, but on two occasions over the last year it has dropped to around 200 for a few days. Why? Haven't the foggiest. Did I do anything? Nope!

in the DT, i agree. however, i use ORP to control and monitor my sulfur reactor and it is very useful.

That could be simply malfunction.

What would you conclude if you see the ORP value decreasing slowly overtime, or increasing slowly overtime?
