Apex Learning Curve Please Help

Ken... I'm thinking firewall/AV may be the problem. I haven't had the opportunity to put a packet sniffer on an Apex yet. Does it broadcast its NetBIOS name, or does it simply respond to queries?

Hey guys I'm turning in for the evening, its almost 1100 and I work 24 hours at the firedepartment. Thanks so much.

Ken and Russ could you please go back and edit some of the IP, Mask, and Gate numbers for me please. I love this site but those are some numbers that will allow people to get into my stuff. Thanks Guys

No worries Engine... that info is useless unless someone is directly connected to your home network..... 192.168.x.x addresses are not routable on the Internet.

Once again thanks for the help. Going to set up the router tomorrow night for the internet so I will more than likely need help with that as well. If it goes by the book I should be able to do it, but I always figure in the lack of computer knowledge and so I will more than likely need help.

Getting ready to set up port forward on my router and went to portforward.com and they have my router but the have a 29.00 thing that will automatically set up my port forwarding for me, is this something that is worth the money? I'm also going to be adding a security type camera to the system so I will have to do this all over again. Or do you all think you can take me through it if I have troubles. Thanks in advance.

I (personally) wouldn't spend the $$; it isn't that difficult to manually set it up and there are many people here that can help.

Thanks Ken,
Well I went in and tried to set it up, got to the router info and did what port forwarding told me to do and it didnt work, now I cant even get to the apex on my computer. I'm going back and changing everything back to what it was when I started to see if I can get to the apex. I will let you know in a little while what I screwed up. Thanks

OK this is what I have when I get into my router, its asks for
Service name
service type: TCP/UDP or TCP or UDP
Starting port
Ending port
Sever IP address
When I tried it I put the following
service name was apex
service type was tcp
starting port was 80
ending posrt was 80
server ip address was the ip address on the apex
Needless to say it didnt work and as I said before I cant even get to the apex page. Please help, again. Thanks

What is the router mfg and model?

Have you taken a scan of my website; I have many router screens from AC3 configuration (and they use the same as the Apex).

Note: The Apex, by default uses DHCP for address assignments and if you want to access from the internet you will need to do 1 of the following (depending on what the router supports):

1) Configure the Apex for static IP (disable DHCP and set the address)
or
2) Add a DHCP researve for the Apex MAC address

Basically, you don't want the Apex to change addresses else he connection will not be found after it moves.

ok i figured out how to log back into the apex. for some reason my apex id changed. we are now good to go as far as getting to the apex on ethernet.

I'm not familiar with NetGear so I'm not going to be able to be very specific but...

Do you see anything in the DHCP that says something about researve? If not I'd suggest picking an address and changing the Apex as in option 1 above.
