Apex Learning Curve Please Help

Unless you have 250 devices connected I would suggest lowering the range to a reasonable number (say 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.150). Next edit the Apex network settings and disable DHCP and set the address to 192.168.1.50. Once you do this you will need to reboot the Apex (last item in the network settings menu) and then port forwarding will be easy to setup; basically forward to 192.168.1.50.

At this point you should be able to connect to the Apex using the public IP address of the router.

You will need to get a DynDns account to track the public address of your router; hopefully your router has a Dynamic DNS settings page?

Most routers will read the MAC address but if not you can find it at the bottom of the Network screen on the web interface.

ok Ken got the dns address set up with dyndns.com and have it in the router. What do I need to put in the apex. Are you tired of me yet?

If you have reserve setup and port forward setup and dyndns setup I think it's time to try it.

try your DynDns URL

http://<my dyndns>

If you used a port other than 80 then the format is:

http://<my dyndns>:<port>

Note: Some ISPs block port 80 so if it doesn't work you might 1st want to try a different source port (you can leave the Apex at 80 if your port forward has source and destination ports; if it doesn't then you will need to change the Apex port number and use the port form of the URL internally as well)

No, I'm not tired of you yet.

OK Ken once again Thanks. I appears that everything is working. If you have any mechanical engineering questions I can help you out. I think I have all the programming for the outlets under controll. Going to pick up another power strip in a couple weeks for the CA reactor, may wander around your site to find a simple program to run it. Once again Dude Thanks a million
