Apex PH. problem!

I have had my apex for 16 days and I love it. I have never monitored ph consistently, but when i tested water it was always 8.2. I set the apex up calibrated it and was reading like 8.1, while checking the chart it was like a roller coaster and continued monitoring i found it spiking. I called support and they suggested a few things and two days later i found the cause. When an outlet switches on it jumps up when it turns off it drops...??? I cycled my fans on and off manually and it would rise .3 I then disconnected all plugs from the eb8 and when outlets 1-3 and 5-7 each outlet will raise ph .04 and outlet 4 and 8 raise it .3 so with all outlets on it jumps a lot i talked to neptune and am returning it they were very helpful. Has anyone had this issue and if so what resolved it? I am controlling some things with ph and want accurate readings. I hope this doesn't happen again i have thrown all other controls out, without this i am lost It is a great product just hope it will be reliable.

First rule of PH; don't trust most test kits. Test kits will read high; a properly calibrated PH probe will always beat a test kit!

Now, onto your problem. PH probes can be sensative to induced voltage; a leaking pump can cause havoc to reading. Fixing these problems usually takes 3 flavors; wires too close (fixed by re-routing probe wires away from AC cords), electrical interference (fixed by moving electrical components away from the controller) and leaking components, inducing current into the tank/water (fixed by replacing the faulty device).

Do you have a ground probe in the tank? Remove it and use correct GFCI outlets.

These are just a few ideas to check.

I have wired a gfci outlet in and have a ground in the tank but again heres the weird part when all electrical is disconnected except the eb8 with nothing plugged into the eb8 it still does it

I don't have the issue, but there have been a few posts regarding this the last couple weeks. Try a search. I think they all had to send the EBx back for repair, so I assume there have been some manufacturing issues.

Dunk373, i had the exact issue you were having. The problem is with the base unit and not the EB8. In my case i had two EB8's and both caused the same issue you explained. The base unit wil have to be repaired by Neptune.

Cool they took my cc info and r sending a new one out then I'll return mine I sure hope a new one works. I was thinking it would be the same issue with a new one how did it work for you when you replaced it?

It worked perfectly once replaced and I have not had a single issue since. Neptune customer service is great and they took good care of me. I previously owned a different controller and have no regrets in switching to the Apex!
