APEX Shutdown

Hey guys, I searched and was unable to find an answer to my question. I installed a new APEX controller last week and today my controller shutdown for 12 hours. It thinks there was a power outage but my wife was home all day and there was no power outage. No breakers flipped. It started back up on its own after the 12 hour outage. But, my tank temp dropped to 71. Lucky for me I have a new tank with no life in it. But now I'm nervous that this automated system that was suppose to help me had such a failure. How do I know why this controller shutdown?

Power Failed: Jan 28 2011 01:23:50
Power Restored: Jan 28 2011 13:45:03
Power OK: EB8_3 (318 Minutes - 02.4 Amps)

Again, I did not touch the unit, it came back to life on its own.
Thanks, Jerry.

First, figure out if it really was off for 12 hours. The controller if it reboots, will report that as a power failure. Now, I don't believe it would take it 12 hours to restart. Did you look at your outlet XML report for that 12 hour period? Were any outlets turning on/off in that time? Is your clock set correctly, with the proper time zone offset? Colorado should be -7. If it really did shut down for that period of time, I'd call Neptune. There's no reason it should. I suspect something else is happening though.

Time zone set up correctly. Clock looks good. XML shows the 12 hour outage;

Alan, you are thinking the same thing I am...

Jerry, are you sure the outlet the Apex EB8 is connected to is not a switched outlet and someone turned the switch off for the day? I've never heard of an Apex just shutting down like this.

I have two dedicated circuits to the sump room. The apex has one of those circuits. I'm taking a hit just about every day. I'll go down and check the unit and the EB8 is flashing yellow, display is dead and no ethernet lights. Then after x amount of minutes (anywhere from 10minutes to 12 hours) it fires back up with a green status light.

What does a blinking green status light on the EB8 signify? Was looking in the users manual and can find no doc on what the status light represents for a given color.

I sent a note to Neptune about the problem, we'll see what they have to say. Jerry.

Curt can give you the commands to export a memory dump of the unit. Perhaps sending that to him will help him figure out what's happening. That's a new one for me.

Worked with Curt today. Nice guy, very responsive. Suspects my base unit has a problem. Sending it back for service. Jerry.
