Apex Trident

Those of you who have a Neptune Apex to control your tank probably have heard about the Trident Neptune has been working on for quite some time now. Just an update to let you all know, the NSI testing has officially kicked off. My unit arrives tomorrow so by tomorrow evening it will be hooked up and in use.

At this time NSI members are not allowed to discuss or share anything beyond the fact the beta units have shipped and are in use, but as soon as we are given the all clear expect screenshots, videos, reviews and gloating.

I know there are a few other NSI members in the SLASH group so just curious, did you guys get into this round of testing?

As of now no public release date has been decided. This is the first round of beta testing so I would expect this to last a handful of months. If all goes well and no major flaws are unearthed, maybe early summer? That timeline is just my speculation and is not coming from Neptune.

I'm excited to see some feedback and comments here on RC vs the other site where a few people have mentioned that they've received theirs.

I hope it's all it's cracked up to be. $600 price plus <$250/year in consumables... Cheaper up front than the competitors with much wider adoption base, stronger company behind it, and broader service (big 3), but the long term costs of the consumables at that level is pricey. They said they'd sell 6 month supplies at a lower cost than $250/year, so I'm hoping half that. I can justify ~$10/month no problem.

I'm excited to see it in people's hands. I can't wait till the thread start pouring in!
 
This is going to push me over the edge and make me purchase an apex. I've been holding off for a while

Add this point what we can Shay and pictures we can post about the Triton are fairly limited. But we are allowed to post a couple of screenshots. Here is the tile on my Apex fusion Android app dashboard.

About once a year or so they put out a call on their forums and their Facebook page that they are looking for NSI testers. I was lucky enough to get into the group. A few years back and have beta tested almost all of their new equipment during that time.

So if you really want in, keep your eyes open and take part of their forums. Just be aware some the stuff you are testing is in beta for a reason. Equipment could fail, provide false readings or may not be entirely reliable. And that's what your job is to do. Refine this equipment so when it is issued for public release most of the bugs are worked out. If you are doing it to get free equipment (it's not) or have the latest toys it's the wrong reason.

So you may not be able to say due to the screen shots, but what brand tests do you use and. What are your normal calcium, Alk and Mag numbers
 
I typically use red Sea. Test 2 to 3 times a week for Kh and once a week or two for Ca. Almost never check Mg. I haven't checked Kh since I received the trident.

Good so far. Still extremely limited on what can and can't be said but it is interesting to see levels rise and fall throughout the day similiar to pH or orp.
