apex users

im an addict lol
I don't have my apex near my router. I had been using a wireless gaming adapter that only the apex uses. It died so instead to bought a wireless range extender. Now the apex is hardwired and and it extends the wireless network range in my house. It's working great. Just thought I would pass it along for anyone that can use these instead.

Hey Roger I've been using one for years. Works great, but don't use it while updating firmware. It's still wireless. Just a heads up.

Hi roger I am a little confuse how did you connect it?

The wireless extender can be plugged in anywhere in the house. So I plugged it in next to the apex. The extender extends the wireless signal but also is has a hard wire Ethernet connection built in to the extender also. Did that clear it up?

yes thanks

Did you actually buy a Powerline Conditioner with wireless extender? It's kind of like the old x10 modules where it uses your homes power wires as a communication bus. This is what I have been using. If you start having weird issues check your ground all the way back to the earth. I found someone disconnected ours outside before we moved in so I had to drive new rods. Cleared up my issue.

For reliable service both ends of the powerline adapter need to be plugged directly to the wall and not through a battery back up or power strip. At least this is the way it is supposed to be done. I can't say how it works for real but it makes sense in my head.

If you run a battery back up on your tank you will want a wireless gaming adapter still in order to receive emails in the event that you lose power at your house.
I will be switching to a wireless adapter soon.

I don't think it uses the x10 to work but I guess it could. I used to uses tha acII with x10 I actually still have the controller. They work great

Yeah Roger I don't know the exact topology used in the powerline conditioners it's just the same principle. Communication over power lines.

The ACII was my first controller as well. With x10's before the EB strips were released. Things are so much easier now.

Roger, what do you think of the feeder and new doser?

Yes probably a bit high but the litter meter III with the 2nd pump for auto water changes is over $400 now if u compare to the BRS 1.1 dosers then yes it's very expensive.
