apex wireless

It's not an answer to your question, but I understand you can't do firmware updates via wireless. Who is your ISP?

I have sunflower. The fish tank is about 20' from my router. I just do not want a cord stretched across the floor. I can hard connect it if needed for updates though.

I understand. That's why I asked. I was gonna do wireless until I discovered the Uverse box on the TV had an Ethernet port and read online that people were connecting game consoles via that port. That's why I asked who your ISP was. Good luck!

I want to get uverse, but they are not in my area yet.

I am still in search for a router or birdge if there are any more recomendations

Im not sure That will work! You want to be sure it can be put in bridge mode. Linksys makes good products but limits the functions unless you pay more. Make sure it has a bridge mode. That is why people are saying get a game adapter because these are essentially bridges.

Ok stupid question here... So the Apex has no wireless capability on its own correct? Just an Ethernet port? Just trying to get a handle on what I need if I decide to go wireless. I see people talking about using a router in bridge mode but that would be in addition to a main router on the network I assume? My Apex is on the way. Just wondering what I'll need to go wireless. My tank is only 12ft from my computer so I may run cable anyways just for simplicity / reliability rather than wireless.

That is correct. The Apex has web/Ethernet connectivity, but is not wireless. If you can connect to your network via ethernet ( cat5 cable ), hiding the cable in whatever way you can, that would be preferrable. If for no other reason than you will have an easier time doing firmware upgrades which are not possible to do wireless. Add to this you will save some money on a wiress router/ adapter and potentially have a more reliable connection. That what I have learned.

haha I guess we will see then. Thanks for everyones input and advice

I've used Belkin products for years and their documentation is usually pretty good. Don't think it will be tough to config.

I ended up getting the Linksys by Cisco Refurb Imo Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter for a little less. I didn't want to run my "N" network as "G" just to make the Belkin product to work.
