Apex Wish List

Neptune is pretty responsive when It comes to adding features. I was hoping these features can make it into the next Release of the controller software.

Grouping:

I have 3 EB8s - Tracking each of those EB8's and all their ports are a NIGHTMARE. If I have lights Plugged into 1 EB8 but in different Slots is almost impossible to keep scrolling to turn off or turn on a component. I would like to be able to GROUP the Lights into 1 Category, Pumps into their own category, Timers and other Life Support stuff into their own Category so on and so forth.

Live Polling:

I have a old busted laptop with a Tiny Hardrive but nice screen. I would love to be able to Display the Graphs from the Apex in real time on the laptop screen. Currently I have to Refresh the graph if I want to see new data.

New Icons:

Can we have some new ICONS for the controller display.? Sun is great for Lights. Can we get some Pump's, a Moon, Skimmer ?

Planning Journal:

Can we have a calendar built into the controller where you can track some tank parameters? THRIVE does it well with their online application. It allows you to Do tests and input the data into the site which then alerts you when things are happening? Make the controller smarter. Have it draw the conclusion that when your lights go off at 9pm your PH drops to X amount and form the logic add Y amount of Kalk to bring it back stable. Just having a DIARY online where I don't have to search for Pen's or paper or the journal would be good. Keep track of water changes alert when a water change is coming up.

HARDWARE
-module that would allow usb webcam, or an apex branded webcam (water proof cams would sell like crazy!!) think easy timelapse photos of coral growth

-more probes! Data is king, I know it's nearly impossible for some stuff but alk cal and mag probes would be amazing. I guess in the end it wouldn't be a probe but a tiny automated tester with a "digital eye" to read color from test. I am sure Hanna would be a company to work with on that.

SOFTWARE
-iPhone app to allow modifications to apex schedule, timers and adjustments.

-allow you to imput standard gmail, yahoo mail, or hotmail credentials for use to email alerts.

-simplify or "wizard" to create more advanced timer schedules. Multiple on/off, week/weekend, macros really..

Argh..... 802.11b/g/n WIFI compatibility! built in. They can fit that into a tiny little usb thingy for laptops but it needs to be on the APEX!

I'd buy one of these... what am I talking about, I wouldnt' be able to afford it :-(

I'm actually looking for a cam now. Can you currently hook it up to the apex... maybe this is another thread... sorry

I see this sentiment a lot here, but I don't understand it. Networking standards improve constantly and the devices to support them are cheap, plentiful, and readily available nearly anywhere. The last thing I want to do is pay a premium to have Neptune build in a wireless interface when I can just go buy anything I want and know that it'll work perfectly with my home network.

I agree 100%. And a premium cost it would be... Curt already said that he can't produce a wireless module at a competitive price - people would just buy the off-the-shelf models from the big consumer networking vendors like Cisco, Netgear, and D-Dlink.

The same concept applies to webcams/netcams.... there are already countless choices out there from the $79 cheapies to the expensive HD IP cameras.

My neptune xmas list wish is for the ability to program an outlet statement on a pH > 10. Or negative ORP readings. I'll take either.

What about the ability to manually manipulate the level of a variable speed port and the AI SOl levels? Sometimes you just want something on or off at a certain level.

Why were making a list... Ive been asking for this one for 2 years and keep getting "its on the list". I want to be able to edit the season temp/lighting table, I used to be able to in the AC3 and miss it. I dont like the large temp fluctuation on the default table.

I'll second both of these.

I'd like to see a random event function or the ability to use a random number generator when coding to make a true random storm event for example

I would like to see a more stable bus system so when I contact support they quit telling me there must be a bus on the main board that went out. Ship it back in and we will repair it for $175.00

I 2nd the random event profile. It could be useful for all kinds of creative effects with pumps and lighting and should be trivial to implement.

I brought it up in an old thread and that is why I third the random event profile. Would be nice for Vortechs.
