Apex WXM Range

It depends. I've seen it work over 100' and not work with just a wall between and the WXM and the Vortech (maybe 8'.)

Part of what contributes to it not working is the building material in the house. If you are working in an older home with sheet rock, then don't expect much. If you are in a newer home with dry-wall, then you'll probably be OK. Also if you have several other Zigbee type devices around your aquarium, well that might be problematic too.

Pair them right next to each-other for the best results. Hope it works out for you.

I guess I will just have to see. It's about 10' as the 'crow flies' but through 2 sets of wooden floors.

Right, I've done 30 feet through just air, and 6 feet though one floor. If it doesn't work I will just set the pump manually.

Could you fish a long aquabuss cable through your walls/floors alongside your piping and put the module at the tank?....if that's how your piping is ran.

It's not that it won't work most of the time. I would get dropped packets and the end light would freeze at midnight. Inconsistent at best.

Yeah, I have thought about that so I could control my son's tank with my apex, but it's an exterior wall and the prospect of it is unappealing.

I'm able to control my vortech pumps and radions that are located upstairs with the WXM located downstairs.

Vortech is probably way more stable than the Hydra 52 connection. I can't even imagine attempting it with a floor in between.

Regarding running a cable, can you run it to a non exterior wall before going up?

I program my vortech and radions with the reeflink about 15 feet and it's going through about 4 walls. I couldn't get to the WXM to do the same.

Does the WXM need a consistent connection with the pumps at all times? I know the reeflink does not. I've taken my reeflink offline many times and the pumps and lights still work.
