API ammonia test

Is this supposed to be hard to read?

It's really cloudy, whereas all the other tests are perfectly clear. When I test my tap it's clear as well. I can only assume the salt is doing it. But under some lights the cloudiness has a slightly darker tint which freaks me out. Under other light its just cloudy but still pale yellow.

My LFS said it was fine when they tested it so maybe they are just used to reading it that way.

Just wondering if my test kit is bad. It shouldn't be, it's brand new and everything else works perfectly.

Check it in full sunlight, worked better for me.

Cloudy is normal when testing saltwater. Make sure you use the saltwater color chart and not the freshwater. You will notice the colors on the saltwater chart do look more opaque.

Well I took a sample to the LFS and they use the same API liqiud test. The result was the same and she said that was normal. Ammonia is indeed zero!

Yay me. Pair of clownfish next week!
