Aptasia Challenge from LFS

ZOAKEEPER

Zoa Trainer
Southwest Saltwater on Broadway here in Tucson has put up an interesting concept. Wonder if any other LFS will step up......

Aptasia Challenge. Find an Aptasia in my Zero Edge Tanks and I will give them a free Zoa Frag. 10+ Polyps of Vietnam Whamin Watermelon or Dragon Eyes for every aptasia spotted. I do have a few tanks with farms for Berghia/pep. shrimp so those are excluded.

Hello!!!! I do work on Broadway, but it's probably best if your not coming to see me. Unless your paying on a fine. Thank you Matt!!!

So has anyone won this challenge? I find it hard to believe a store that constantly gets in new stock could keep such a close eye on pests as to keep their tanks completely free of them....

Actually it is much easier to spot aptasia on the shipments. Most aptasia from what I have seen come in on live rock. Every now and then we get a rock with majanos/aptasia on a tranship but typically almost all can be caught in acclimation by site or with TMPCC/FW Dips. The next morning any hiding in the rock attached to coral are caught at opening. I have been harping on this since I bought the shop. Flatworms and Aptaisia get no love from me unless I am growing em to feed pep shrimps or berghia. Alex (the first participant after the idea was suggested) found a pen head sized aptasia on a small rock that bill , britni or I probably do not have the eyesight to see. It was on the base rock. He was a good first looker since I new he had a disdain for Aptasia (except in the sump where they rock)
