Aptasia vs BTA

Have a small(as of now) out break of aptasia's. I see them pop up and I shoot boiling water at them to kill them. The problem comes in that I started with two, killed them, now I have 4 :headwalls:. The only thing I'm worried about them really doing harm to is my GBTA. I was wondering if one pops up near it will it hold its own or will the aptasia kill it. I just don't want to hurt the GBTA while trying to kill a aptasia if it gets close to it.

So nobody has ever had an aptasia problem and owned a BTA at the same time. Interesting.

Have you thought about other methods of ridding your tank of aiptasia, such as natural predation? If you don't have any fish that eat peppermint shrimp, they might be an option. I have two in my reef and only have aiptasia in my overflow. I never saw the peppermint shrimp eat the aiptasia, but I can tell you that shortly after introduction, within a couple of days, all the aiptasia were gone from the display tank.

+1 on peppermints - i was having a breakout (3) out of nowhere - i put 4 pepps in, but now i only see 2, but within 2 weeks all aiptasia are gonners. gl

The fish I have are a trigger, porc puff, and a blenny. Shrimp might last 5 min.
Its not near the BTA as of yet, but they do just randomly pop up in different spots. One recently popped up on the other side of the tank from the origanal area.
