Aptasia

Is there anything out there that will get rid of aptaisia other than a CBB? I have several popping up nothing huge but probably 10 or so and I want to get them under control before it is a problem...

Well I have a peppermint shrimp and it isn't touching them....I can reach a few of them to putty them but most are rather large (1 1/2" or so tall) and would take a lot of putty to cover.... they are only on two or three rocks which I would just remove but those rock have coral on them and one has my RBTA on it....

Even drying out rock doesn't guarantee to get ride of it. Heard a few stories of rock drying for several months, only to have aptasia come back once put back in the tank.

Berghia nudibranchs will work but not sure how much it would cost to get a few.

If you can get to them, what about injecting with the Joe's Juice?

The peppermint shrimp you need are a specific type... ORA breeds them and I bought a pair for my 55.. you would not believe how fast they cleared those out.. Ron can get them in time to time.. a little higher than normal peppermint shrimp but well worth it.. higher quality as they lived a long period of time and acclimated very well...

I've tried the shrimp. Didn't work. I've tried the Molly Miller Blenny. Didn't work. I've used Joe's Juice and the Stop Aptasia. It was like feeding them.

I now no longer have any in my FOWLER thanks to a dog face puffer that mowed through them in no time.

I have had great success in the past using Kalk paste.

Get you a large needle syringe, one with a big enough hole in the needle to flow a thick paste.

Mix some kalk with rodi water into a thick paste.
Insert the needle just above the footing and inject the paste.

The problem with the shrimp or the CBB is - they may leave eat other stuff instead.

I think (as Ron mentioned before) if you can put a finger on it - cover it with a putty ball.

I do not have one in either of my tanks and this is the only method I have ever used- even if it meant I had to move a couple of rocks to get to one.

I've had great luck with Joe's Juice.

Last night, I made my own "Joe's Juice" with kalkwasser (Matt told me how to do this).

The homemade stuff worked.

Tried the putty ball thing, the little bas#%@$ squeezed out around it, so I did it again...;...Little son of a gun!!!
