Aqua C mod??

I have an aqua c hang on skimmer and I was thinking about replacing the maxijet 1200 with the needlewheel pump from my css. What do you think?

Having a NW pump forcing the water/air mixture threw the spray nozzle on a aquac is self defeating.
You need to dill out the spray nozzle so you feed the remora with a maxijet 400. Then mount the NW pump on the side of the remora as recirculating skimmer. My pump is in the mail. I have'nt worked out the exact design, but it will be close to what I just described.

or just get a mag 3 for your remora and call it good. but i can't see the point of this mod, could you explain?

Prugs.
What needle wheel pump did you order? How much, from where? Have you figured out the plumbing (1/2" bulkheads or silicone or ???)
I expect this mod will increase the performance of my Remora to something closer to the Deltec HOB.

Genx 1000 NW pump, less than $20 at www.thereefstop.com
I am going to use uniseals, not sure what size till I have the pump in hand.

The uniseals will need a much bigger hole than you would expect. E.g. A 1/2 uniseal will need a 1 1/4 inch hole. This might not work on the side of the remora.

It will work.

also, isn't the pump you are buying not able to be placed externally (meaning your recirculating pump must be insid the tank instead of HOB)?

I have some genx 2400 NW pumps and they can be run externally.

Its going to be on a 37gal trigger tank for now. As my undulated trigger grows, so will the tank size. The only limit to this skimmer will be the size of the collection cup. I will have to do a drain mod also. Should be good for up to at least 75gal.

I have decided not to mod my AquaC Remora.
I'm going to start from scratch. I like the looks of Deltec's hang on skimmer "collection cup". I believe their collection cup with the gradual taper will work better than the AquaC.
Heck, I'll just sell the remora.
I'm still going to use the Genx 1000 NW pump for the bubble maker, & a maxijet 400 to supply the feed water.
