Aqua C skimmer

I have a HOT aqua C and i have have it for a 1/2 a year. i do maintainence (clean pump, sray injector...) but it never get ANYTHING in the collection cup even if i adjust the height of the cup. What can i do to get it to work?

Also i have it on a 20 gallon reef, and i want to upgrade to a 50g. Would this be a good skimmer for a 50g? My 2nd choice would be a coralife skimmer. (the others like ASM are too expensive)
Thanks

How much bubble is it producing? Check the reaction chamber, are the bubbles well mixed with water?

Are there any microbubble coming out from the outlet? There should be quite a lot.

I find my AquaC work best if the cup is at the lowest setting (wet skimming).

You also need to clean the neck of the collection cup very often (at least once a week). A clean neck will help to generate more skimmate.

i clean the neck often. I dont see any micro bubbles coming out of the skimmer...what could be wrong?
Also do you think this skimmer would work well on a 50g? or woud i need another?

At the current state, it won't even work on a 10G, because it's not producing any skimmate. When it's working, yes, AquaC should be OK on a medium stocked 50G tank.

AquaC Remora is capable of removing at least 1/2 cup of skimmate per week.

Do you know what pump you're using to drive the skimmer? (MaxiJet or RIO), if it's the smaller RIO, go and upgrade to the MJ 1200. Small RIO's are useless, even AquaC has stopped using them.

If you take the cup off, do you see foam/bubbles in the top of the middle chamber?
What's in your tank? Do feed often? Have an algae problem at all?

Are the clamps tight around the 1/2" tubing between the output of the MJ and the input of the skimmer?

There are a few bubbles, but not many. my tank is a 20g but only has a percula clown fish and some corals. I do have an algae problem...mostly caulerpa i cant get rid of! my salinity is good so that cant be it
thanks

Get emerald crabs to get rid of your caulerpa, worked for me. As to the aqua C, it's a POS throw it out and upgrade to a Jebo skimmer, thats right I said upgrade to a jebo skimmer.

Look at the Jebo 520 thread, seems like people are loving the performance for a $40 skimmer. A local reefer also told me he has the jebo cpr-bak pac knockoff and he got it for $40 also and has it on his 46 gallon and like the skimmate he is getting.

Personally, I like the AquaC remora. Many here on RC and experts like Calfo recommend it as well -- but that's not saying that yours isn't defective or a lemon, or that you won't do any better with something else.
It does sound like you have a very low bioload with few excess nutrirents, and the few that you have could be being taken up by the caulerpa. Translation: there may not be much to skim no matter what skimmer you get.
My Remora produces a cup of skimmate a week on my very full 75g.

I have the same problem with Aqua c skimmer not skimmin g,I currently have a 90 gal fully stocked with corals ,Softies ,some LPS ,and few frags of SPS ,not to mention about 13 small fish ,Neon gobies ,2 clown ,a mandarin ,just a taste of my live stock ,and yet no skimmate ,MO Aqua c are not as good as they are made out to be ,Im runing a mag 7 now ,Im looking into the Dolphin DP 800 ,its a bit stonger pump see how that works,If not ,LIFE REEF HEre i come
Just my 2 cent

AquaC is way too small for 90 gal, you need a good in-sump ASM or Euro-Reef type of skimmers.

But Razzagas's AquaC is not producing any skimmate, different problem altogether.
