Im going to be in the Kissimmee /orlando area to vist my family so my family told me about a place called aqua-holics and i was wondering how it was and if yall went there and how was your visit

Thanks

Well to be honest I don't like them at all. There customer service is not the best and there live stock it not either. If you are in the kissimmee area I would recommend World Wide Corals. They are one of the best LFS I have ever seen. For info just google them and get there #

wow really?? my friends and family spoke high of them but i will deff check out world wide corals....did anyone else have a bad visit?? or any good ones to aqua-holics

Check out Open Oceans the staff there is very friendly and to ma has the best selection of livestock in the Kissimmee area.

You cant beat WWC though

Yes you CAN'T beat the tiny corals with astronomical prices. I have a 14 gallon and the majority of their $200+ corals I would consider too small for my tank even.

WWC and stores like them that are pushing this LE nonsense are really taking away from what this hobby used to be. We need more stores selling healthy, colorful corals that aren't collector's items....

Well personally I have been to both Open Oceans & Aqua-Holics and have found that Aqua-Holics is far better. I mean I have only been in the saltwater tank hobby for 3 months but I have found the best prices and the coral & livestock are much worth the travel. I have ALWAYS had excellent customer service and have been given the best advice.

WWC has astronomical & ridiculous prices plus the corals are tiny frags,I rather do some driving and go to Itchy in Tampa

Ok, WWC does have some tiny frags and some of them are fairly expensive. But, they also have many other corals that are very reasonably priced. If you do not want to purchase the "LE Nonsense" then don't purchase it. But, do not discount the fact that WWC also has a large variety of other corals that are more common and therefore more affordable. I do not want to turn this into a flame post so i will stop. I agree with the first poster though, go to both stores and make your own decision. I believe WWC is worth going to just to see the three display tanks. Have fun!

The one main thing you have to consider with WWC is that a lot of their corals are aquacultured which is better for the environment and long term existence of the hobby. You pay a premium for aquacultured corals but they keep their color better and are generally more hardy that wild caught corals.

Sea in the City is another great store to stop into. They are not that much further up I4 and then a little east on the east west expressway (whats the highway number for that again?).

InLimbo, I always see you post crap like this whenever someone mentions to go to WWC, if I remember correctly though, I believe you purchased a $200+ watermelon chalice frag from them a while back. Why the change of heart now?

I've purchased every coral I have in my tank from them, and I assure you I didn't pay $200+ for any of them. Yeah, if you want a rare/hard to find coral, you're going to pay for it, just like any other item/product in this world.

There's not a store around in Orlando that has the selection they do, so don't discourage new members or visitors to the site from going there.

No I did not. I bought it for $100ish and sold it a couple months later. I almost fell into the LE crap, but realized it was a load.

My problem with stores like WWC is they're making this LE stuff the norm. Everyone's trying to cash in on the LE craze and now anything aquacultured with a hint of color in it is someone's LE or AE or whatever they're calling them. A 1/2" chalice frag is now considered large. Since when do chalices get measured in the number of eyes? Have you seen the size of chalice eyes? ludicrous

I just recall a day in Orlando before WWC in which stores carried colorful corals not denoted as some crazy stupid name at astronomical prices. If you choose to shop there and love it, fine. Great. But I have every right in the world to voice my opinion on where stores like WWC and other "chop shops" are taking this hobby.

I didn't get into this hobby to collect rare limited edition stuff, I got into it for enjoying my tank which gets harder and harder to do when local fish stores have to fall into this crap in order to compete.

InLimbo, i can see why you are upset with the way this LE craze has come about. Hell, i remember when blastos and acans first came into the hobby years and years ago and you could buy 10-20 heads for $50. However, what i don't agree with is assuming that WWC has brought on the LE craze to Orlando. Yes they have many LE corals, yes they will cost you a pretty penny. But, to assume they are overpriced is beyond me. For example, if WWC purchases a LE chalice for grow out and pays $200 for an eye from some vendor in CA then frags it once it is ready and sells it again for $200 an eye are they really in the wrong? They put up all the risk, invested in a coral which may die, or may lose value because more come into the market. If you want to be upset, go for it. But, do not denote a reputable vendor in our area because they happen to have a healthy stock of corals most people in central florida could not see unless they were in California. If you need someone to be mad at, be mad at the reefing community for letting these beautiful corals get so damn popular!

Could not say it better myself....

Wow i didnt know that starting this thread would i see so much emotion. my intent was not to start arguments and i'm sorry if i stepped on anyones toes. im gonna visit each store for myself and come up with my own conclusion thank you to all who gave suggestions!

Newbie that sounds like a good plan. I have not been to Aqua-Holics in close to a year so I can not say much about them. I will say that yes WWC has some expensive stuff and stuff you will not find anywhere else in Central Florida, but I will also say that they have nice stuff for normal LFS stores. I just recently picked up some Blue and Green People Eater Zoas from them. Something like 4 or 5 polyps victor sold them to me for a great price. Cheaper then I could have even got them online. I mean with WWC you ca get reqular zoas all the way up to the MY Miami Chalice that right now I think only 4 or 5 people own it.
