I just swung by to pick up a new fish but they were in the process of un-bagging. They got another huge order in of about 100 or more fish. I will go back tomorrow to see if there is anything eye catching. I have never been there when a coral order has come in (thurs night). Well they have some very nice pieces between $40 and $60 and of very nice size. I picked up a nice acro with white body, purple upper tips and green polyps. As I bonus I got 2 acro crab hitchhickers. They also have some really purple anemones and various inverts, plus the y finally got some clams in.

I must have been in shortly after you Eric, and I have to say I left a bit unhappy. Not fromt he store--they had a ton of stuff, the usual very good prices. It's just unpleasant seeing the order when it first comes in and tank after tank with dead fish. It's amazing how many come in dead (and one would assume that any that arrive dead don't even make it into the tanks, so these are ones that died in the short time they were there. I left thinking how I wish we and the industry at large could better support aquacultured animals--such a waste. It's not AquaHut's fault either--all shipments I imagine come in like that, but we don't usually see them so new.

ok, off my sob-girlie soapbox now. :)

They did get in loads of stuff--anemones (no BTA's, or no healthy ones (yet), but lots of inverts--snails, shrimps, hermits. Fish-wise there were a lot of the usual damsels, a few Amphiprions, some scooter blennies, some LM blennies, quite a few sand-sifting gobies, some Rhinopias (orange and purple ones), quite a few eels (small snowflakes mostly)... not tangs or big show fish, or not many.

That's all I recall. Suffolk Fish has fewer fish, but better choices, and they have a new frag tank set up with frags from $12-$36.

Trust me, all shipments do not need to come in like that. However, you need to spend more money to get better quality, and that translates to higher retail prices. Unfortunately most people are more worried about buying the cheapest, not spending more money for the best quality.

BTW if a shipment for some reason has a high DOA rate, it is a sure thing the animals from that shipment that are not DOA will have a high DAA (Dead After arrival) rate that is evident for several days to weeks.

I just got back from Suffolk Fish and Reef. Nice assortment of fish and corals. They have a lot of Frogspawn frags available.

What is Aquahut's hours on Sunday and Monday?

TIA ..

its kinda late right now, but aquahuts usually open till around 9ish.

they probably close earlier on sundays though.

I was at AH and PW today and nothing special. AH has some clams and lots of anenomes. Small carpets, lots of sand and LT's. He had some cool purple sand anenomes. No big deal with fish.
Same with PW.

I saw that in the other thread, but I was wondering if anyone had gone the last couple of days and saw any.

I went Suffolk Fish and Reef, so I guess it is time to make the fish store journey..

Ralph, he had emerald crabs and on Saturday a 2-3 candy canes. I am not sure what you mean by frags, they were not huge colonies but not frags either.

last week they had a bunch of tiny emerald crabs at 3 for 12.

How big where they for that price? Does he have any more.

They were about a 1/2 inch across the body. I don't know if he has more, I haven't been back. I should be back friday if anyone needs a preweekend report.
