Aqua illumination

Hoping to get some input on aqua illumination LEDs

I was thinking about using two on my tank lengthwise and raising them about 10" above the tank.

My tank dimensions are 48x24x20 high.

I have the following livestock

Rbta
Candy cane
Frogspawn
Hydnophora
Sinularia
Devils hand
Red and green monti caps
Some millis

I would get an additional unit or two when I get some more demanding corals.

Thanks in advance

I think AI recommends 1 for every 12" of tank. I guess if you raise them up though, you can get away with 3.

How long have you used the LED's? I really want to know about long term effects vs. Metal halide or even T5. I would like to convert to any form of lighting that takes less electricity and runs much cooler. However with this economy one has to be careful about plotting a chynk of change on something that "might" be better. Have you measured any growth in particular to your SPS?

If you want the cool new tech and are willling to pay the AI LED is very nice but if your looking to save money T5 is the way to go

Im super close to getting a 3 unit fixture for my 40 breeder. Hard to find thread on these lites but if u search Aqua Illumination on youtube theres a 3 part review by a guy on there. Thats what has sold me and made me wanna take the risk on one.

if I can get 18" then everything would be lit :P But, even at 12... thats only 3 inches off the back and front -- mostly live rock and sand. Just want to do it for a test... if it doesn't work, I'll have to get more modules.

I followed the aqua illumination link. They listed places where you can buy their products. It was pretty. I called 5 different places listed and NONE of them had them in stock nor were selling them. It makes me kind of leary

Sorry to hear you struck out. Send me a PM and I can tell you where to get one. I can tell you after purchase product support is outstanding.

I have a 500 gallon w/ six modules on it. I will be adding a second row this week but the SPS I have are growing. I'll try to post pics later this evening. Neil
