Hi, i am in the process of looking for a skimmer. I have a 65 gallon tank I am going to convert to a sump, and am thinking about having a custom built tank 60"x24"x24" which should be about 120 gallons (I think) . An aqua medic turboflotor 1000 (rated for upto 250 g) was recomended by a LFS Owner who is also using for his home tank. Does anyone have any experience with this skimmer and is it a effective as I have been told?
Thanks

I've never run one but do see more people talking about and happy with MSX and Octopus skimmers. ratings are way over exaggerated so expect it's really half of the advertised number. I'd think you'll want a bigger better skimmer.

I have one & would not recommend it if your buying new. I think your money would be better spent on an Octo / MSX 200.

i have a turboflotor 1000 multi on my 90g. It does a good job, but i am upgrading to a 120 and bought an msx 200.

The tank would be 150 (149.61) gallons if 60x24x24. 48x24x24 is 120 gallons

Thanks, I was going to find the calculation formula and figure it out for sure. Now I don't have to. Thanks again

And thanks everyone for your input the whole skimmer thing is a little overwhelming as it almost seems it can make or break your system. They are too expensive to be replacing.
