Epoxy putty from hD also does not sticks super well. People usually use superglue gel for short term hold and let the 'putty' epoxy harden for long term hold.
If you think epoxy suppose to harden in even 24 hours, you will be let down. Even the super glue that Ron suggested can only hold so much weight pending on your structure. Again I have no idea what you have in mind but one of the hardest structures to make is a bonsai. Here's a link of a NVR member or even sponsor. He was at the NVR swap I think if it was him selling the concrete mixture (what ever it was) plus he had structures built also
I've done drilling (destroyed a dewalt drill head due to salt), did epoxy and everything else. I'd like to do the concrete next but in stackable sections. Only thing for me that would be solid is the bonsai structure.
That's JesterSix. He knows his stuff. He did a demo for BAR about a year ago. Uses 'Emaco' to cement rocks together. It sets up in less than 30 minutes and can be put right back into aquarium.
You can get small quantities from MarcoRocks or a whole bunch from White Cap.
I think Tom uses it too. Perhaps he would have some to sell instead of moving it???
I don't know how I didn't see your 'it's finished' post! :uhoh2:
Well actually I did not epoxy what I did was positioned all the rocks on cardboard until I got a super sturdy rock formation the built the same one in the tank what was nice is that none of the rocka touch any of the glass. So of you look at the sides of the you can see down both the front and back of the scape. So o could put corals down the back side.
Yes, the epoxy can be a real pain to work with. As stated it has almost no initial holding power. Now that you have a stable rock work you can put the epoxy where the rock edges come together so when it cures you have a little extra holding power.
Also to note large amounts of epoxy can make your skimmer over active.
