Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Don't leave yourselves short. You may think you only want to control a few things now but automation is contagious. You just keep finding things to automate. Personnally I like the Neptune line but mine has run perfectly for 4 years now.

This hobby is a 30+ year addiction for me and I know what will happen once I get my hands on a controller :) That is an additional concern whether I should limit myself or not (I know what the little devil on my shoulder is telling me to do). Also do not want to set myself up for failure my having faith in one device to control everything. The individual mechanical timers I have used for years continue to be fail safe .

The RKL would be the most cost effective choice. For what I have read on the forums that the iTemp probe that comes with the base unit is pretty accurate. This controller is the more logical choice. The extra toys are more wants than actual needs.

Yep, the RKL with iTemp probe is likely what I'll do. I run a 1/3 hp chiller and apparently that's "right on the verge" of too much power for the standard PC4... D.A. can't give me a straight answer on if it would work or not (which ticks me off!) and is honestly the reason I haven't bought one yet ;)

It shouldn't be an issue to run it on channel 4, if you wanted to feel safe pick up the PC1 or the expansion outlet. Now whether they tell you yes or no for the PC4 is a different story. They will most likely just recommend purchasing an additional module.

Austin, called around to a few stores for an RKL, looks like they are sold out.

This evening I ordered a 3 way union ball valve for my sump (manual, not actuated). I am planning on changing some of the plumbing in my sump as I set-up the chiller.

Hey Mike ,
How long have you been using ESV salt ?
I take it you must be happy with it .
I have not really looked into yet. just busy.
David

I have been using it since the beginning of December. I really like the salt. What is great is as long as I have water ready, mix the 4 parts in, and in less than a half hour the water is in my aquarium. You need to make sure while using it that you know the exact amount of water you are making up, since it is a 4 part mix. Pick up a small box and try it out, you wont regret it.

UPS just dropped off my 200 gallon mix of ESV B-Ionic Seawater System. Happy Water Change Wednesday!

Mike

Heh... USPS dropped off 7 boxes of #1 last night, part of my 1050g mix for a show I am putting on this weekend (www.TheBWAYMAC.com). I hope the rest of the 21 boxes are there when I get home tonight >crosses fingers< I love the salt :) Bob and his brother sure have it going on!!!

I've been using an AC Jr. for the past 4 years or so and it has never failed me - however I wouldn't call it accurate. The temp probe is definitely a little off as is the clock (even when I correct it, eventually it falls behind again). I have a BNIB RKL level 3 that I'm waiting to try on the new setup but I might sell it and just keep using the AC Jr we'll see. I bought the Apex when it just came out and after looking at the manual thought there is no way I'm going to use all of this so I sold it unused.

Good luck with the show! They have created an amazing product. Initially I was skeptical about putting fresh salt mix in my aquarium but I was told... don't worry about it. Then after that first batch mixed super clear and I was hooked from there on! I honestly can not see myself switching back to standard salt mix.

As far as I know, yes. Greenwich had two in. They both were very small pieces about an inch closed each.
