Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Thanks so much for the FTS. your tank is very inspiring. I was curious, you still have the angler in there right?

Clay, I have a Centrogenys vaidiensi (false scorpionfish) in my aquarium and the other Mike [uhuru] has the black Antennarius (angler)

Mike

ohhh ok that makes sense, sorry for the confusion I knew I saw a black angler a few pages back. I was curious because I just got one.

and i know to feed it every 2-3 days, but im curious if I can just leave a few chromis in the tank and it will pick one off when it gets hungry, or will it eat them all and gorge itself to death. Ive been looking for an answer on that and have yet to get one. it would be more convienent to just leave3 chromis in the tank at a time, but I know this may not be the best for the animal.

Feed him ghost shrimp if you have access to them or work on trying to get him to eat frozen. I honestly would not feed him a few chromis.

Mike

ghost shrimp are doable, but they die if left in the saltwater to long, thats why i was considering chromis.

Alright, I'll try to do that. I have PE mysis. any particular reason why these are better than live? also, is your scorpian carnivorous also? ive never kept a fish like these before.
-Clay

oh and have you looked into getting any crinoid squat lobsters (Allogalathea elegans) for your criniods? I see them quite often out here in California. Very neat little creatures, they dont need crinoids to survive but do better with them. You are the only person I have seen keep a lot of crinoids in their tank so i thought id ask.
-Clay

Actually I do have 2 squat lobsters living with my crinoids. They are small and normally difficult to get photos of.

Unless you have a source for very good, quality live food, I tend to trust frozen more. My Centrogenys vaidiensi (false scorpionfish) is in the grouper family. What makes it unique is that it looks like a scorpion, behaves like a scorpion, changes color, but does not have venomous spines, and as far as I know, I have the only one in the US. It is not picky, he will eat anything thrown into the aquarium.

Mike

what! the only one! thats cool, how did you come across that? makes sense about the quality live food i want it to be very healthy, its just not as fun watching it eat frozen, oh well that doesnt matter that much

The tank is great but if I did it again, I would have had a custom stand made. Not saying I might do that in the future, it is just trickier doing it with a full tank.

THAT is the most wicked angler I have ever seen in my life !
It looks like it belongs on a Red Spider Sponge [Trikentrion flabelliforme]
Where did you get get it ?
That is bad azz !

It is getting a little dangerous for my Plesiops oxycephalus in my aquarium. The other day when I came home from work my Ellerkeldia rubra had him in its mouth so I had a custom acrylic container made for him.
