Made a run to Greenwich Aquaria today; picked up my custom acrylic container for my Plesiops oxycephalus and a box of ESV salt for this week's water changes.

Just finished drilling it out and now it is time to soak it in vinegar.

Tonight I was able to capture 2 different types of hair like tentacles coming from my Distichopora. Picture color is off since I was using a flashlight. The first two pictures you can see thin, long, clear hair-like tentacles. These were about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long. In the third picture there were a few grouped together but alot shorter. extending about 1/4 inch. What do you think?

aqua, im going back through and cant find where you listed what you fed your crinoids. mind repeating it?

They look a lot like feeders to me Mike. It's either that, bacteria or mucous strands, but since they are only along the pores I would think they are feeders or mucous strands (which could still be a feeding response).

Crinoids love Ultra min F! I mix in 1/2 a cup of tank water: an 1/8th of a teaspoon of Ultra Min F, cyclop-eeze, 1ml of Reef Nutrition OysterFeast. Then I dose the crinoids directly using a Kent Sea Squirt.
Keep in mind that my aquarium is also continuously dosed 24 hours a day: FM Clam, MinF, SeaFan and other foods too. For successful, long term keeping of crinoids, it is important to have constant food in the water column. In addition, the aquarium should have an abundant supply of microfauna.

Do you keep the same feeding regime since introduction of this coral?
I got once the Distichopora but it must have been dead on arrival...

The feeding regime has been consistantly the same since the coral was introduced to the aquarium. This would include also direct feeding it.

Personally, I believe that the lace corals that we are receiving are either extremely under fed or possibly close to death by the time they reach our aquariums. That being said, they would require a fare amount of rehab inorder to be sustained in a closed system.

Today I am waiting for Fauna Marin's new LPS+ food to arrive and a gorgonian from Cherry Corals. (Out for delivery)

Very interested to see the how the food works with non-photosynthetic LPS corals.

Just fed my Tubastrea, Rhizos & Blanos the new FM LPS+ food. Seem to respond well. The pellets are small so definitely need to make sure your pumps are off when feeding.

I have seen on the Fauna Marin ad that there are actually 2 sizes available ,although I have not seen two sizes shown to be stocked anywhere yet.
Can anyone else confirm the availability ?
edit ... yes ,there is a .8mm and a 1.5 mm size .
