Got messaged today that my Profilux is done being upbraded to a P3 and has shipped out from Progressive Reef :bounce2: Hopefully it will be here within the next 10 days from Canada. Going to try and stop be a certain reef shop in Queens (never been there before) to see what selection of items they have in stock for the P3 locally.

On a different note looking forward to going to Atlantis Marine World this weekend. The place rocks! and love the behind the scenes tour.

Ahh ha Mike. Finally caught you. (just kidding of coarse) I am pretty sure that is a Alcyonium sp. The polyps on the Nephthyigorgia don't pop out of the coral as much. This is a Nephthyigoria:

The retail world has them messed up all the time, they seem to interchange them. Amazing videos as always.

Thanks! Maybe you are right...

Now tell me this, which one on this page is a Nephthyigoria? ;)

Yes, dont call the copyright police on me for taking the picture.

Ok a test! If I'm right do I get to pick a coral from your tank? :lolspin: Hmmmm top left (1), the polyps are different but that could be just a different variety. Top right (#2) looks like it could be also. At least the wilted one. I need to see a better picture of the polyps. I'm going with 1 and 2.

What does it say number 5 is? One of my suppliers has some little frags of that. I did not pick it up because it just did not look to exciting. They called it a "new varity of chili".

Only one? I will think about it... Wasn't really a test but more like a trick ;) Every coral on that page is a different variation of Nephthyigoria. So you as you can see the range of the coral.

On a different note, I was going to start a thread on Tuesday about the subject but I will mention it here. One second while I get out the soap box to stand on. It is regarding the term NPS. I won't hold anyone accountable for using the term who doesn't know better but honestly...where did that hobby generated term come from? I can understand using Azoo or Azoox instead of writing Azooxanthellate corals but NPS...really? I think as a community we can do better than that. This forum on RC is one of the most view non-photosynthetic forums on the web, if not THE most viewed, and it is our resposibility a to steer marine aquarists in the right direction. So let's go forward and eliminate the use of the acronym NPS.

No fair, that's cheating. You lead me to believe there was only one. I thought I was out on a limb with two. I did see the title at the top and figure that was the answer but you know, books can be wrong. I still get to pick a coral. I'll leave now. That should put me at your house tomorrow, in the morning sometime. BTW what book is that?

Ok, you decide and I will follow. Azoo or Azoox? Careful climbing down we don't need to get OSHA involved. Your right of coarse. Not sure where it came from. I was spanked in one forum for using the term NPS. I was told it was NPC as in Non-photosynthetic coral. I thought that was crazy. At least species covered more. I'm up for a standard term and renaming the forum.
