Aquabacs' Cadlights Artisan 50 Azooxanthellae Tank build

Don't worry I will be careful. I had an inservice on how to properly step up and step down from the box (copy in my training record), I also have one unionized laborer holding the box and one relief for him. Think I have all the angles covered ;)

I know books can be wrong but it is the closest thing to a non-photosynthetic coral bible...atleast for identifying them...it is Soft Corals and Sea fans by Fabricius and Alderslade. According to the AIMS website "the book will be available from an alternative source which will be advised as soon as possible". I have been searching out extra copies of the book and when I find one at a decent price, I let you know.

Sticking with a standardize term would be a great start. It will help with cutting down any possible confusion with terms. There are many aspects we need to work on with standardizing within the forum; this help reduce the fog of war in the care of non-photosynthetic corals.

Only one? I will think about it... Wasn't really a test but more like a trick ;) Every coral on that page is a different variation of Nephthyigoria. So you as you can see the range of the coral.

On a different note, I was going to start a thread on Tuesday about the subject but I will mention it here. One second while I get out the soap box to stand on. It is regarding the term NPS. I won't hold anyone accountable for using the term who doesn't know better but honestly...where did that hobby generated term come from? I can understand using Azoo or Azoox instead of writing Azooxanthellate corals but NPS...really? I think as a community we can do better than that. This forum on RC is one of the most view non-photosynthetic forums on the web, if not THE most viewed, and it is our resposibility a to steer marine aquarists in the right direction. So let's go forward and eliminate the use of the acronym NPS.

NPS fits in nicely with other made up terms like SPS and LPS. FWIW I am pushing the term NPS and will be using it through out the Reef Nutrition product line, in our ads, on our website, etc. Yes I know better, but so does everyone else and they still use LPS and SPS

Say it aint so Gresh...stop the presses and contact the marketing department! Don't tell me that RN has succumbed to the hobby too. It was bound to happen, I started to lose faith the first time I saw LA tag their corals "similar morph" to certain hobbiest created names. (I know it is marketing) Oh well...there goes the neighborhood ;) On a positive note, another company catering towards hobbiest keeping non-photosynthetic corals  I know the two sentences sort of contradict each other (ok to cater to one type of market and not the other).

Actually since we are on the subject of terms, if anyone is interested in reading a article from Sanjay Joshi back in 2000, search hermatypic scleractinian corals (hope I spelled that right), you will find a article on "Feeding a Coral Reef Aquarium" check it out and see if you learn anything new ;)

I have a friend who I borrow that book from when ever I need it. I'll have to borrow it again I guess. I know where there is one copy left. Not resonable, but available. I am calling them tomorrow.

When are you going to announce the new products? Come on, we need to spend money! :bounce3::bounce2::bounce1: How about a couple of hints.

I am sure we will all find out what is coming out during MACNA....few weeks to go. I am sure, as always, there will be more awesome products to add to our Reef Nutrition arsenal. Just want to now how longer after MACNA will we have to wait until production and our LFS are stocked?

I wish I could go. I am glad they are taking us "Azoox" guys into account. It's the next frontier. Now we have to reward them by buying their products.

We have to cater to all levels of hobbyists and many are tuned to terms like SPS and LPS. NPS just fits that bill better for now. Having said that, we'll of course be explaining what the term means and in that we'll talk about Azoox :)

Trust me, there will be a lot more support from Reed Mariculture on the Azoox/NPS front. We feel this segment of the hobby will be much larger part of the over all industry in the near future. Not to mention it's near and dear to both Randy and I.

That is outstanding news Gresh! You made my day.

Justin did all the music/video production, we just laid the lyrics down :) There should be some more of these in the coming months, we did several songs that night.

See this is another reason to go to reef conferences... the after parties :D REEFstock held it at one of the nicest homes I have been to atop a mountain overlooking Denver where there not only was a very nice 1,200g SPS/LPS (mountain top tank-- YouTube video by Jake Adams) but also a 500 softy AND a large planted discus tank. Props to Steve Hurlock for his fabulous home and aquariums :D

That's all you get for now ;)

Once I get a section of the tank to look more the way I want, there will be a new full tank shot. For right now, I need to get my hands on some serious aquarium epoxy to help a few corals defy gravity...then I will be heading towards the right direction.
