Zegg...............Holy cow NOT good for sure:mad2: :mad2: This seems totally out of character with Aqua C as they are noted for their quality....I will be very interested in how they handle this and as such awaite your followup and can't wait to hear what Steve has to say about this, as I have communiated many times for help and have always received fast, helpfull replies...Good luck and let us know...

Just final thought with this rotten economy we find our selfs in NO company whats or can afford negetive customer feed back...  so once again post your results good or bad.

Well not really mad or anything about the skimmer being cracked, being made of acrylic im sure this happens sometimes, no matter how good a company is cant expect 100% perfect everytime maybe 98%? lol.

Whats makes it a good product is customer service as well.
Since I bought it though Marine Depot I went through them first to see if I can exchange it...

2 mins on the phone and it will be ready for me to pick up a new one and exhange out this craced one in 2 hours. Thats awesome. Lately its been so hard to replace, return, exchange anything without having to exaust all your options and going mad before a "xyz" company helps you.

So later today I should have this thing up and running!!

Zegg.............Excellant and yes Marine Depot are one of the best, good to hear u got this resolved....

I have a AquaC EV 180 on a Mag 9, I am going to upgrade to a AquaC 240 (found used for good price) and use a Mag 18 I have laying around. I have exactly 26" height in my stand and I hope I can get the cup on and off of the EV 240. . . Otherwise I might have to contact AquaC for a custom modified cup, which customer service said they can make for me.
I also ordered the 1" injector.
I also have a remora pro w/ extended collection cup w/ Mag 7 and am thinking of hooking up my Mag 9. Anyone have experience with this? Do I need to dial back the Mag 9. The Mag 7, only gets juice in the cup if I lower the cup about 2".

I am not sure if this has been asked. Has any one used the ev120 with a rio 2100? Marinedepot sells them with this pump. They are rated at 692 gph so it would be close to a mag7. I have a mag pump for my return and I like it. I have never used a rio pump that is that big. The rio also runs at less wattage.

It will be close to the mag 7 in flow at 0 head, but it cuts off at only 8 ft. The mag 7 cuts off at 13 ft. I believe the rio will be a disappointing pump for a ev120.

Some links to the flow and head charts for each pump. :)

mag7

rio2100

Ok, last edit, I finally got the links working.

I might as well mention that most stores and AquaC recommend pumps with a really wide range of head capabilities. It's also recommended for best performance ;) to use a more powerful pump and gate valve if needed.

jeremy..................I am currently running the EV-120 with the RIO 2100 and could't be happier. I'll try to att. a photo so u can judge for your self. This unit is running on a 70 G reef and well it kicks butt...

I think what happens in this reef stuff is that it to easy to say " mine biiger than yours..ha ha" I think u get my drift..When u set it up for the first time be sure to carefully rinse it completely in WARM water with a final rinse in RO water jsut to be sure, what this does is speed up the "break-in process"

You can actually "over-drive" one of these with a pump to big and then u have to valve-it-back so what's the point in wasted $$$ and energy !!!! Hope this helps...

Im using the rio 3100 for the ev180 and so for doing an awesome job for the 6 hours or so its been running, almost immedatly it starting pulling tons of stuff straight out of the box. Still have everything wide open as well.

But long term or after total breakin i have no idea if this will be a good pump in comparisonto a mag9 or the enheim

saltydog, Thanks for the info. Your ev definitely looks like it performs well. I have been debating between a tunze 9010 and the aquac ev120. I am really leaning towards the aquac now after reading some of this thread.

My hat's off to AquaC customer service. I've had an EV-180 for about a year and a half now and it started to develop microcracks in the collection cup a couple months ago. Since it was past warranty I emailed to get a quote on a replacement and Steve emailed back to offer a FREE replacement cup since it was likely a manufacturing defect in the acrylic tube. The replacement arrived in about 3 days and is now in place with no issues. This is truly a company that stands behind their product.

The reason I would like to try the Mag 9 is because Mag 7 only gets skimmate in the cup if the cup is lowered at least 2".

I'm jumping in on the "my Remora sucks" bandwagon. Any easy mods for the remora or maxi 1200? Any usefull mods in general?

I can't say mine sucks, it just stopped producing foam one day. I think it just needs a bigger pump.

Everyone...........Welcome back into the hobby, I'm sure u know this...but anyhow...it makes no sense that one day it produces skimmate and then the next day it doesn't......can't be the pump, unless of course the pump just s___t the bed so to speak, I suppose that's a possiblity, but any how I rather think it something or someone u recently added to the tank...is it still down and for how long now ????

It's been out of the tank for awhile. I tried cleaning it w/ vinegar & water, which produced a lot of foam, but once I put it back into the tank no foam.

I have it sitting around now but I can't sell it until I figure out why it's not working. I think some carbon may have gotten into the spray nozzle, but the screw on the top is stripped so I can't take it out to clean it.

I'm using a recirculating Octopus skimmer now & it's working well.

for those who are running the eheim 1262, do you have the strainer and foam attachment to the pump? Or, do you just run it without any kind of prefilter?

You can use the strainer, but don't use the foam. It'll reduce the flow and affect the skimmer performance if it's clogged.
