mburnickas, probably not, i ended up taking the threaded output to 3/4 tubing adapter from my sen and put right on the 1262, the one's provided were a bit to big to fit, and one that was too small too clamp on.

mburnickas....

I managed to do it with my 1260 like this

This is working for my testing, but I've made this gasket for the actual install. (I made one since I have the material laying around, but you can probably size one up at the hardware store).

My first time running an Eheim. :) This thing is amazingly quiet. Wow!

It's sorta loose fitting going on until you get it screwed all the way on, then it snugs up to the pump well. I think it will be fine underwater, but the gasket will hold it snug for the long haul.

sweet.
THink i'm going to get another eheim1262 for my return. after using the one for the skimmer.. and my lg is getting long in the tooth..
I am tempted in trying the sump reversed, but that will kill my easy water changes.

Thanks Cap! My Mag 5 is working but not to the degree I like. I think the Mag 5 is a poor pump for this application.

I hope the 1260 does better.

What size MPT is on the 1260? Also where or what are some good links to the valve you have?

I think my 1260 will run my ev180. :) You'll be fine now.

Hang on, I'll edit in a minute with some info.

edit... check out my post halfway down on page 13. :)

so the 1260 will be overkill for my 120? then again it can't be worse then the Mag 5. The output is like my old turbofloater!....pretty sad

oh, just checked that page! that was what I was looking for. :D :D

I could not remember the page. This thread is becoming like the thumbs up for ozone thread....which I still need to hook my ozone back up...To soon I think. I want to get the skimmer working 100% first.

If I added O3, I think the output would become 10% since the mag 5 is poor. Maybe running O3 and with the new 1260 would be pretty good??

so the 1260 will be overkill for my 120?
No, I didn't mean to suggest that. I mean from what I've heard, you'll be singing the praises soon.

Yeah, I found some cool things at savko. I was particularly impressed with the cute small size of the female threaded union. Here's a sneak preview of what I'm working on. Good shot for plumbing and valves. :)

is anyone using the aqua C Urchin model with maxijet 1200? Thinking of getting one for a 60 gallon total setup. (40 dislay, 20 sump) First i assume that I can handle that size setup and any reviews would be great.

I don't know too much about that one, i have a remora pro.
urchin is supposed to handle up to a 75, but a ev120 is 3 times the skimmer and it is suggested as far down as a 40.
If have a sump, i'd go ev series personally. I'd probably go with a g3 on that size personally. But lol i have a remora PRo on a 29g without a sump.

If anyone has one of the EV models and the air valve whistles, here is an easy way to make a muffler that makes it very quiet.

Get a 3" or so piece of 1" ID vinyl tubing. It should slide over the end of the air valve nicely.

About 1" from one end of the tubing, poke a couple of toothpicks through it forming a cross. You may have to use an ice pick or something to make holes in the tubing first, then slide the toothpicks in to make a cross. This will keep the cotton ball from clogging the air intake.

Now put a loosely fitting cotton ball into the end of tubing so that the toothpicks keep it from reaching the air valve.

This is a great DIY muffler that will pretty much make your air intake silent. I use it on my EV180/mag9.5 and it works great. It also filters dust out of the air intake. I change the cotton ball every once in a while when I notice it getting slightly dirty looking from dust.

Here are pictures of mine. I used plastic zip ties instead of toothpicks, but it's the same idea.

How do you all adjust your output valve? I am having a heck of a time getting it stable. I have a 90o pvc elbow and a short pvc tube which shunts the output water down. I do not have an air hole drilled in my elbow though.

Could you post pictures of the valve output of the skimmer? I need help getting this thing adjusted.

My skimmer either produces watery foam (like 5gallons of watery stuff) or else it produces nothing.
