wow. so I finally hooked up the new remora on wednesday night. it was spilling lots of bubbles back into the display that night and the following day/night. got up this morning (36 hours later) to find foam coming out the hole on the top lid. I pulled the collection cup out, and it was full!. skimate was watery brown tea like, and had some stench to it. this was on the lowest setting of the cup. after I emptied the cup, I raised it like 3/4-1" and left for work.

I ran a remora pro with a mag 7 for a year on a 55. I celebrated the day I got some poor sap to buy it :)

So we should all note your user name and anxiously wait for your posts in the for sale forum knowing that you're an honest and ethical seller when you list something and say it works great ?

Or was their another point to your post ?

I'm running an in-sump EV-120 on a 120g bare bottom SPS tank and so far it has not disappointed me.
I do however have it tee'd off of my sump return pump with a gate valve to control the flow. If I had to guess, the flow is probably in the 700-800 gph range. That being said, I would think the recommended Mag 5 would be underpowered for this skimmer.
I do use a 100 micron filter sock on the gate valve output cause with the increased flow, you end up with microbubbles.

I told the guy when he bought it that I was unhappy with it and I was going to setup a sump and buy a quality skimmer.

Remember the Remora Pro is considered by many to be the best HOB skimmer you can buy. I just personally thought it was WAYYYYYYYYYY overrated.

EV-240 and EV-2000 here. Both running on the same system. The EV-2000 is a new addition, added three weeks ago.

The EV-240 worked pretty well. Sometimes it would shut down for a while if I had my hands in the tank. Now the EV-2000 is a completely different beast and I'm not sure why as it is just bigger. This puppy never shuts down and pulls out 10 times as much as the EV-240 ever did.

For more info on my experience with the EV-2000 so far read my posts in the thread below. Some of it is very interesting. The result were not what I expected.

I run a remora pro - it's decent - but I think it works best on tanks 55gal or less. My sister runs one on a 75 and manages ok. They are one of the best HOT skimmers in their price range.

I have an Urchin in my sump on my 55. It pulls about 1/2 cup full of dark green/brown crude every 2-3 days. I clean it often, so I think that helps. For the price, it beats anything else I have had... I would love to get a bigger/better one someday...

I had a Remora sent from USA to the UK as you cannot get a UK supplier.

With great customer service from Christine and a great Skimmer I am very happy with it.

I have an aqua c remora that I purchased second hand from a local reefer, powered by a maxi 1200. He'd only had it a few months. My main issue with it right now is that it puts alot of bubbles into my display. Is there any kind of modification to remedy this? Otherwise, it foams up the cup great within minutes of turning it on.

The prefilter box significantly reduces the micro bubbles being returned to the tank, plus of course it improves the skimmer's effectiveness because you're actually skimmer from the surface.

i dont get enough skimmate on my remora with mj 1200.......any ideas......i noticed a nylon screw on the input......does tightening/loosening it affect bubble output?

That's for the occasional cleaning of the injector, should it be needed.

You can download a manual for your skimmer from the Aqua C site.

I have an AqucC Remora on my 15g nano and it does a great job.

Bob

Sheesh, the Remora must be skimming the entire volume of you nano every few minutes. I would hope it's doing a good job.

I have mine on a 10g, with the filter box. No it doesnt pull as much as I thought it would. My tank is doing great, dont get me wrong. But the skimmer is not as great as some people say they are.

While I know the white screw allows access for cleaning, I believe that it also is there to increase/decrease flow/amount of bubble created. I have 2 of these (one on my 20 and one on my 50 gallon prop setup) and I couldn't be more happy. Good dry foam w/lots of nasty green brown stuff in it. If I am wrong about what the white screw does, someone feel free to correct me!

Couldn't be happier (especiallyfor the price)... :)

Thanks for the response. I've heard varying reviews about the prefilter boxes, enough unsupportive ones to make me hesitate to get one. Some people claiming the maxi 1200 would run it dry, etc. You're saying that you think it is a beneficial addition to the skimmer? I guess I may just end up having to pull the trigger and buy the thing and see for myself. Any further reviews of this addition would be appreciated.
