flameangel88.... I was reading this.....
I've the AquaC Remora running for about 2 months on Aquapod 24gal tank and was working well then last night I was setting up the new 75gal tank and moved the Remora over and after 2 hours I noticed the foam wasn't going to the top. Matter of fact, the water level was the same as the tank and didn't see much bubble and waterflow coming out look a bit slow. I took the unit out and rinsed in hot water for a couple of minutes, took the propeller out and there wasn't anything blocking the fins. All of a sudden seems like the pump is not pulling enough water up. I can't find the instruction that came with the unit but remember the screw inside is not for bubble or water adjustment.
If you're noticing the pump isn't functioning properly (water flow) and the injectors and plumbing lines are clean (stresses check the injector, and use vinegar if there is lime build up in the pump), that should negate AquaC from any responsibility of your skimmers function decline. Either your pump is somehow restricted, or more likely, your new set up has "messed with your skimmers mind", and it simply needs time to "remember" how to function.
AquaC skimmers have enormous sensitivity to oils (from skin, food, Selcon, new plastic, etc...) I suggest you take a good enough look to rule out pump issues, and wait for it to re-align itself with its new surroundings.
I hope this helps you out.
I should also add here since it relates to the conversation, that from what I've gathered (from the beginning of the thread), and experienced, is that the larger the pump and force through the injector, the greater the speed of recovery from feedings, oils, bla bla bla. I think the fellow who has the ev2000 even stated (way back there) that he sees no skimmer performance decline from hands, feeding oils, and so on.
Hey folks, lets help that dude in Lithuania find the right pump for his ev400 220v needs. The USA has few manufacturing companies left, and AquaC makes a good product that is reliable, durable, and functions as well as any European skimmer.
