aquaconnect 14k?

IME, far superior to any 14k bulb. I love the bulb, but the price is a little high for 15 lights :eek2:

i agree, i just got them a few weeks ago, and they have the best balance of blue and white i have seen. very good par when run on electronics, but if you have magnetic you might want to go another direction. i can't comment on growth after a few weeks of use, but according to sanjay, it has much more par than the hamiltons, regardless of ballast, and the difference is more pronounced on the 250w. 83 par for ac, 69 for hamilton on icecaps. the ac get 97 on the reef fanatic ballasts, which is why i have bought one.

thanks guys....does the reef fanatic ballast run the bulbs any different than the icecap?

p.s. Price is a little high for 15 lights? im not sure if i follow....

yes, it runs it with more par, 83 on icecap, 96.7 on reefanatic. but that is based on a sample size of one, so i don' t know how consistent these things are.(ballasts, bulbs.)

he runs frag farmer and thus uses a lot of bulbs

What are you using for your current light setup in your tanks? I remember you said the Bluewave ballasts with the AC bulbs? But I notice on your site it says 20ks. Why the change?

Either way your corals are incredible:)

The 14K Aquaconnect is supposedly the same bulb as the Phoenix 14K which is considerably cheaper. I just recently replaced some AC 14K with Ph 14K. For awhile I had some of each side by side. The color looked the same to my eye. The PH bulbs had PPFD values about 40% higher than the 15 mo. old AC bulbs. From what I've seen it certainly seems they are likely the same bulbs.

Ah, now there is a problem. AFAIK Phoenix only makes the DE bulbs.

well that limits me to half of my 90, but ill get a pheonix for the right side, and with an ac 14k on the left, a comparison can be made. it will be a few weeks before the bulb i don't have yet burns in, so don't hold any breaths.

i guess i was wondering if the reef fanatic altered the color or life of the bulb any.....

The AC 14K DE 250W bulb is absolutely, positively, without a doubt the Phoenix bulb. The 250W SE bulb and the 400W bulb are different bulbs. But when talking DE/250W/14K ... same bulb.
