Aquactinics Constellation 48"

Hi I was wondering where is the BEST place to purchase the Aquactinics Constellation T5 light fixture online? Who is the most dependable, with the best price? I'm ready to get a new fixture and I've decided that would be it for my 90 gallon reef.
Thanks!

Thanks so far guys.

Reef Geek doesnt seem to stock them, at least online.

Salty critter, from their website seems to be offering free shipping on the fixture I'm looking at, which is a good thing. I need to ask them if mounting brackets come with it. Some sites dont provide the brackets and are asking like 30 dollars for them.

Any other suggestions?

I'm getting ready to order the same fixture. I'm considering Salty Critter and Aquarium Speciality . Both appear to be offering free shipping but I'm planning on calling each to verify if they are still charging the large item fee. I'm leaning towards aquariumspeciality because I prefer to use the bulbs that they have listed on their sight.

I kinda remember reading a post in the Aquactinics forum here on RC that all new fixtures should come with riser brackets. If you notice some of the sites say 95% reflectivity and some say 98%. According to Aquactinics all new onces should have the 98% reflectors just some of the vendors are dragging their feet in updating their websites

Post back once you make your order or if I make some calls to verify who has the best deal I'll post too.

Their fixtures come with tank mounting brackets. They do not raise the fixture, they only hold it in place. Riser brackets or the hanging kit are extra, I think they are ~$38

James you are correct regarding the tank mounting brackets, the riser brackets are extra. Hornet you are correct with everything else (besides the riser bracket comment). I confirmed this.

FishtankDirect told me that they can give me a little better deal on the fixture and they'll sell me riser brackets for cost (but now I'm not sure if I even want them (we'll see on the deal). Unfortunately they do charge for shipping. I called Salty Critter and they said this doesnt fall into the large item category and shipping is completely free. Not sure if Aquarium Specialty is the same way.

I'll be making my decision today, and most likely ordering it today so I'll keep you posted Hornet. I just want to make a couple extra calls before I pull the trigger.

Thanks for the update ellinas :D I'm planning on resting my fixture directly on the tank so I'm not really concerned with the risers. But if somebody was offering them for free along with shipping I wanted them :D.

Have you decided on what bulbs your getting?

Hornet, I just placed the order for the 48" Aquactinics Constellation yesterday. They said I should have it by Friday. I'll be picking up the Geisemann T5s from my LFS. I can get them cheaper online probably but I'd rather give him the business.

Let me get the fixture and I'll give you all the info. I think I got it for a good price, so I'll keep you posted.

I'll also post the bulbs I get and pictures of them in the fixture so you'll have a better idea of how you want your tank to look.

This fixture looks HOT right on top of the tank:
Bulb combo was too blue!!

This is with (3) Blue + (2) blue special (2) pure actinic

Make sure to acclimate corals or you will end up bleaching them out or waiting 3 months for them to color back up from light shock!!!

Now I am running (3) blue+ (3) blue special (1) aqausun. I am VERY happy with this combo but its just too much light for my acros up top!

Old pic - excuse the algae!!

Thanks for the pics logzor.

I probably won't be ordering my fixture till sometime later next week. I'm just now starting to fill my tank with saltwater and will add a little base rock then sand tomorrow. I'm kinda taking my time ordering the lights. I figure I've got some time to go through a cycle since I'm going to have a about half base rock filling my tank.

Logzor-real nice pics! That plate (monti?) in the middle thats pink and yellow is real nice. So you're saying that the light is too strong even for acros at the top?!? What are your times of light exposure?

Also what do you recommend regarding acclimation of the corals, timewise?

The big yellow guy in the center is a Scroll Coral (turbinaria). The green one to the left is the same species but is known as a Pagoda Cup.

ok my new 48" Aquactinics Constellation light fixture came in on Thursday!! I picked it up from PremiumAquatics.com and I got it deliverd fast for, what I think, was a real good deal. I did a lot of price matching but Jeremy from PremiumAquatics was real helpful and gave me the best price.

I picked up the Geisemann bulbs from my LFS (I'll list them when I get home) and I'll post pics of the tank later. I agree Logzor, the fixture looks great atop my tank!

mcrist-I absolutely love it. there really isnt anything that I dont like about it. It looks cool/sleek atop my tank and it puts out some good light. I took photos but theyre at home. I'll try and post them later.

my bulbs are as follows (all Geisemann):
Front
1.Pure Actinic
2.Aquablue
3.Midday
4.Actinic +
5.Actinic +
6.Actinic +
7.Pure Actinic
Back

They work off three ballasts so that:
Bulbs 1,4, and 7 go on first and stay on last
Bulbs 2 and 6 go on next
Bulbs 3 and 5 go on last and are off first

So far I couldnt be happier with this set up. The Aquactinics Constellation fixture just awesome (and no, I dont work or have any affiliation with them).
