Do you know when these skimmers are coming back in stock? Also what is the difference between these and the regular Aquamaxx Cone-2 skimmers? Thanks.

We reached out to our purchasing department to get an updated ETA for you. Our follow-up response may take a bit though since several of our team members are leaving this morning to setup for the Reef-A-Palooza show this weekend. So if you're in a hurry for an answer (which is totally cool, mind you, we're here to help!), please contact our customer support team directly at 1-800-566-FISH. They'll be able to login to our PO system and check on the estimated time of arrival for you as well as explain the similarities and differences. Either way, we appreciate the question and look forward to providing you with an answer soon.

Sorry for the delayed response! We are anticipating the arrival of more AquaMaxx ConeS CO-2 Protein Skimmers near the end of October or beginning of November. Unfortunately, since the skimmers are just being built, we've only been provided with an estimated time of arrival thus far and not a firm delivery date.

The Cone 2 is basically the predecessor to the ConeS CO-2. The main differences with the ConeS are the upgraded bubble plate and the handle on the collection cup. The size of the skimmers are close, although not identical. AquaMaxx essentially took what hobbyists liked about the Cone 2 and made it better with some design refinements.

I wish they didn't put those cones on the bubble plate. They should go back to the original BP design.

Far to gimmicky for me. Even if they add to over all skimate production 1-3%. Although I don't believe it myself but that's a whole other discussion. The cones just impede in cleaning the bubble plate when necessary.
I just preferred the original plate. I also think if you read happy customers of AquaMaxx skimmers you will see similar comments.

Those are absolutely valid points. Most of the feedback we've read and received has been favorable; that's why we were curious what your take was. It's just nice to know what hobbyists think so we can relay those feelings"”the good, the bad and the ugly"”when customers ask us about equipment.

Here is a tread which leads to the AM s cone skimmers. There a credible members on this forum that have spoken about the cones on the bubble plate.
I believe they are great skimmers. As a matter of fact I just bought a EM 300 for my tank. I hope AM skimmers don't loose credibility do to some trendy design that experienced reefers will pick up on;)
He is a link below. Perhaps we can send a friendly message to JNS. HTH
