Aquamaxx Hob-1 slurping

Ok so I have had the hob on now for a couple of weeks now and I think its breaking in well. Still have microbubbles but I am going to change the return today and possibly get rid of the T.. we'll see.

Anyways the skimmer occasionally makes a slurping sound. I have cleaned the silencer, and the airline, the inlet tubing looks fine, no idea what's causing it. Its just a minor annoyance, but I'd love to hear from someone who figured out the cause...

Mine did that at first. I described it as sounding like a kid blowing bubbles in his chocolate milk. Fixed it by accident actually. I took the whole thing apart once to feed it and put it back together....no more slurpy noise. The pump hadn't been in there completely right.

Well i removed the Tee and am just using the elbow and the clear tubing and no more slurp...

Still quite a few bubbles. I'll be pulling it off for a cleaning soon and I will check assembly of the rest, I think I may have an oring in the wrong place which may help my bubbles once I get it right.

There was a second O ring that I never did figure out what to do with...no instructions on where it went. I just didn't put it anywhere as a result. I never had an issue with bubbles, but have read here and there about people having issues with bubbles with this and other skimmers. I haven't made any changes on mine other than shortening one of the tubes coming off the main unit to allow me to fully open my lid. Otherwise, it's hooked up just like in the picture. No bubbles and works great. I did notice that it really wasn't pulling out very much really nasty stuff until after I added my second fish. I can now say that cleaning my skimmer cup is one of my least favorite tasks. BLECH!

Sorry I couldn't be of greater assistance. Search "microbubbles," and I bet you'll find lots of suggestions.

I have the same AquaMax HOB like yours. I also had the same issues for about 4 - 5 weeks during breaking in. It has been running for about 6+ months now and it is doing a crazy awesome job. Just gives a little more time for this unit to break in. It is a doing an crazy job on skimmate the nasting and stinking stuffs.
