AquaMedic Ocean light Pendants

What is the general consensus on the quality of the AquaMedic Ocean light pendants (i.e.-reflector quality and overall build quality)? I'm looking at a used 250w model but really have no experience with them.

I used to have one and they are well made, but the reflector is quite small. It's a good buy if you're looking for something that will have minimal visual presence, but you'll get better spread and overall light from a larger reflector. I removed the ballast from mine and wired it to a Lumenarc reflector.

I have a pair that I got used from a fellow reef club member. Overall - I'm quite happy with it. It has a hammertone reflector which is great for avoiding hot spots, but as Jefe12234 mentioned, it is relatively small so the spread won't be as good as that from a larger reflector. But it's size is exactly what I liked about it. I'd be hardpressed to mount one of the bigger reflectors in my canopy, and I wouldn't have any room to mount T5s for supplementation.

I have them mounted in my canopy (well, on top of my canopy, really - pictures below) and are 7" from the water surface and my light is very even. I'm not sure how it will be if you mount it higher.

I also got mine for $250 for the pair including ballasts, and I thought it was worth jumping on.
