Aquaph8's 225 Build

Goooo Brett get that female.....i mean the female Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus :lol2:

It would be really cool to see that pair in your tank. Watching them interact must be great!!

So dont miss out on the chance!!

Yes i noticed the small frags in there....just excited you will be adding more corals in there. Do post the pics of your new corals once you get em at the frag auction

I would but they were sold as a pair only and I already have the male. Females are so hard to find by themselves. I'll let you know what I get from the auction.

Thanks Mike. I let him go today. He did great with no issues. I moved the Purple Queens over to the acclimation box. Their eating better than I ever hoped so I'm gonna give it a shot and see how they do.

I picked up a few things at the frag swap today too, Ill share more when I get a chance.

Got this beauty from the swap. Kinda broke my own QT rules for this one cause I knew the previous owners routine. Shes a big girl. Since her introduction my Pseudanthias pleurotaenia has gone on a hunger strike. She hasn't eaten in two days now. What do you guys think I should do. I would remove her if there was fighting going on but theres not. Think she'll come around?

Brett,

I love the borbonous anthias ! I'd give it a another day then pull her out if the other one is not eating.

Beautifullll fish Brett...
What is its usual diet? What did the previous owner feed this beauty?

Whos is the big girl? The previous owner or the new Anthias? :lmao:

:wavehand:

FWIW, I’ve had my borb for years and they can get a little aggressive (at least mine can) but since you’ve not seen any bullying I’d say they are just getting to know each other. My borb is also an agressive feeder. Is the anthia feeding yet?

You're scoring some really nice fish! I saw some beautiful Queen Anthias last week, but I could not pull the trigger...thinking about the difficulty getting them to eat... looking forward to hearing progress with them.

Thanks for the advice but I never got the chance, she's went MIA.

Thanks Noob, so far she only eats frozen for me but it shes such an aggressive eater I dont imagine it will be long before pellets are on the menu.

Love the fish!!!

Thanks Brentley, I have a few more on my wish list that Ill pull the trigger on if I find them but other than that Im gonna take it easy for a while and let my tank catch up to the new load. Glad to have you along for the ride.

I thought the same thing Dan. I never really saw any aggression I would consider to be harmful. She went MIA though so maybe I was wrong. Ive had much worse issues work themselves out in the past though so maybe it was something more. I was hoping to pair her up with a male soon too. I dont know if that would be such a good idea anymore. The borb is doing great and is leaving the Queens alone atleast.

Thanks Jon. The females are still picky little pains for me but the male is eating small pellets for me now. If the females start eating pellets it will make it so much easier for me with the Auto feeder. Im still feeding live baby brine along with a bunch of frozen stuff. They seem to be holding their weight pretty well so far so Im hoping for the best. All this extra food in the tank has brought on some cyano that Im dealing with now but Im sure the new sand is to blame also. Nothing I havent beaten before though.

Well, bad news. I found the Square Anthias tonight. She just had her head sticking out of the rocks and was breathing really hard. I pulled her out and to my suprise she wasn't skinny like I expected, infact she was really bloated. Any chance this could be another issue? Edema maybe? I dont know, sucks either way I guess.

Oops :sad1:
Any chance of saving him? Its such a pretty fish....
Did ya drip acclimatize it before ya put it in DT?

Nice Borb Brett!
Sorry to hear about the square...with the distention of the abdomen it could be many things...a GI blockage, cancer, or some other organ disease. Some things just can't be helped.

lol yeah that was funny, just a few moments apart. Was just reading through your thread! Very cool :) Where did you find that 1" Y locally? Just curious as I never see them at home depot or lowes.

I couldn't find them at any of the hardware stores either. I finally broke down and ordered them on line from this place. Im sure one of the plumbing supply places has them cheaper but it just wasn't worth driving all over with the kids for me. I wish I ordered a couple extra, Id throw them your way. Looking forward to seeing your build progress. Very nice man.

Got my new little toy installed today.

Ive heard mixed feelings about kalk reactors but figured Id see for myself. Im gonna give it a little time and decide where I wanna go from here as far as Cal/Alk. Im either gonna keep doing two part and run some dosers or go calcium reactor. I just dont feel comfortable going out of town with my manual dosing schedule. It seems every time I get back everything is all messed up. Hopefully this will help my low PH issues.
