Aquaph8's 225 Build

apparently i need to check my RC posts more often! this is me responding like a week (plus) late...

Well it doesn't LOOK like you cheated... I've got a construction background too and my problem was mainly that the space between my baffles is too narrow to get a full-sized caulking tube all the way down, so I had to use the squeeze tubes and do the best I could with my big ol' paws.

So how exactly does one "cheat" with the silicone? After seeing my sexy new sump, two of my friends have asked me to help them make their own... Got any tips on how I can cheat too? Share thy secrets, I beseech thee!

I just meant cause I use a lot of silicone and caulking at work. Keep your finger wet and space your baffles out a little more. I like to make them just big enough to fit a turkey bastor in to clean them out. I also have really skinny hands, LOL.

That's awesome Brett! Looking forward to seeing the pics. :D

Woooo hoooo waiting to see those fishie pics.
Congrats bro on getting your dream fishes :)

Thanks guys but he's still not here :headwally: Hopefully soon.

Wats your current fish list Brett?
Are ya feeding frozen food to tank inhabitants?
How's the parameters holdin up?
I'm having an Alk drop in my tank so fixing it right now.
What's next on ur wishlist once uv hot ur long awaited dream fish :)

I feed 3 sizes of NLS pellets in my auto feeder 3 times a day. A mix of frozen foods (rods is my favorite) atleast once a day and usually about a 1/3 sheet on nori. On top of all this Ive been feeding the corals a mix of live rotifers/pods/BBS/phyto twice a week.

Since I added the kalk reactor and automated the two part it has been more stable than I ever expected. I dont why I manually dosed all those years. My SPS have a long way to go but look better than ever. Im so pleased with how things are going right now.

Fish list:
Paracanthurus hepatus-Blue hippo tang
Pterapogon kauderni-Banggai Cardinal
Synchiropus picturatus-Mandarin Dragonet (green spotted male)
Parachelilinus mccoskeri-McCoskers Flasher wrasse
C. rubripinnis-Red Fin Fairy Wrasse
A. ocellaris x 2 breeding pair
Zebrasoma flaviscens-yellow tang
Odontanthias borbonius-Blotched Anthias
Mirolabrichthys tuka-queen anthias (trio)
Halichoeres chrysus-yellow corris wrasse
Rubri marginatus-red margin fairy wrasse
Genicanthus lamarck-Lamarcks Angelfish
Nematelectris magnifica-red fire fish (pair)

Here is a few of my favorites on my list of wants:
Macropharyngodon kuiteri-Kuiters leopard wrasse
Macropharyngodon choati-Choati leopard wrasse
Chaetodon declivis- Declivis Butterfly fish
Pygoplites diacanthus-Regal Angelfish
Priolepis nocturna-Circus Goby (pair)

That is really my favorite question to answer. The kuiters is number one on my list after the muelleri but who knows how long it will take to find one. This list will take me years to fill. After my next couple additions Im gonna take it easy for a while and just let things grow out.

Wow I asked ur favorite question. Thats awesome :D
Totally cool wish list. That's gonna look amazing in your tank. Some not availae easily right? But the hope and expectation is what keeps us all goin and I always feel this is what keeps out hobby always fresh and ever interesting.

Thanks Noob, Yeah the search for that hard to find fish is always fun and keeps me excited. I think the muelleri will be here tomorrow. The LFS said Wednesday and I thought he meant last Wednesday and I guess its this Wednesday. I guess we will see tomorrow, LOL.:debi:

I got a new camera. I have never been the greatest pic taker, if you have any tips by all means dont keep them to yourself. Ill take all the help I can get. As you can see I still have a little algae left on the sand but it gets better every week.

As always thanks for looking:wavehand:

Lamarks Angel fresh out of QT. This guy kept scratching his head in QT. It took Cupermine and two Prazi treatments before I felt comfortable letting him in the display. Very hardy fish through the whole process.

What camera did you get?

The tank is looking great and congratulations on the new addition. We LOVE the Lamarck's Angel!

Our male Rhomboid tore up his mouth on a sharp edge in our acclimation container two weeks ago when we moved them to the DT. It was so bad that we moved them both back to QT. It's healing well, but the ordeal has been a bit nerve racking, so we can certainly relate to what you went thru with your Angel.

Extremely cool fish.
Seeing your FTS...looks like a super ledge on the right side and makes me wanna climb on top of that and diveeeeeee. :D
That algae on your sand bed will clear up soon. Won't it help if ya will sift the sand on the affected areas a bit, without disturbing the sand bed too much?

Happy Reefing!!

Great looking tank and nice addition. How big is it? Looks to be a female still.

Thanks Kenny, female for sure, she's about 3". I let her out of the acclimation box today. For such a little fish, she can hold her own pretty well.

The camera is a hand me down Minolta SLR. Its a little out dated but way better than all my cell phone pics from before. Sorry to hear about your Rhomboid, I hope it heals OK. Ill let the cat out of the bag since it didn't happen, thats what the other fish in my order was supposed to be. I went to pick it up today and it was a no show. I guess my Rhomboid dreams will have to wait. Glad you got in touch with Tyler he makes great stuff.

So like I said above, my secret fish was supposed to be a Rhomboid wrasse but that didn't happen. I would be sad but I cant cause the muelleri has landed. So beautiful, my new favorite for sure. He's not eating yet but looks great and Im sure he will once settled in. Ill post a pic when I get a chance.
