Aquapod 12 vrs. JBJ nano cube, pros and cons?

Hi all, im sure this has been hased out before, but i really wanna know some pros and cons between the 2.


So far i notice u can get the Aquapod for 129.99 and the JBJ for 149.99
So the Pod wins here.

Also the pod has better built in surface skimming than the JBJ.
So the pod wins here as well.

What have i over looked guys??

I have heard people say that the lid/canopy on the 12g aquapod cannot come off or is a real pita, as compared to the jbj nano cube.

Is this true? Any1 with experience with this on a aquapod 12, please chime in.

I'm sorry I did not look at the 12 aquapod very close. I knew I wanted to buy the 24 so I did. They had the 12 there it looked like a JBJ for some reason. I like the look of the 24, and it's not that much bigger plus the mods are cool to do and cheap. I have the MJ bought the fans for $20.00 shipped. Have the bulkhead and Loc-Line too.
I'll buy the Lee-Mar stand next week for it and break-down those 10 gallon setups. Water testing the little tank now in the kitchen, it's OK she doesn't cook anyways. Not much help.

I had a go at the Ap 12 hood and i could not get it off. but it has 4 chambers in the back which i really like. putting extra lighting in it is not an easy task either. But all in all i love my tank and got it for the extra chambers and bit more watts.

I love my 12 gallon aquapod. Replacing the bulbs is a pain because its hard to get the screws off. But it is a good tank. Love the 4 chambers.

What do you put in those 4 chambers instead of the filter foam, carbon, etc?

cheato, live rock rubble. various chem product .
The extra chamber is more often used as a cheato home then anything.

hey guys thx for all your responces.

U are not going to believe this!! I ended up going with a 10g aga tank, with a Aquaclear 110 diy fuge.

I sure still like the looks of the pod and the cube and if all goes well in my little 10g, then someday i will have to get me a fancy little hook up like 1 of them.

cheato is macro algae that grows in your sump/fuge. You have to have a little light on it fo rit to grow. It also sucks up nutrients that are in the tank. Good, biologically wise.

theres usually people selling cheato here at RC in the selling forums if you can't find any locally.

Oh I see your in Puerto Rico Econ. Then it might be harder to find some.
