Aquapod 12gallon chamber question

Hey I have an aquapod 12. I plan on upgrading my pump to a maxi jet 900. I want to know what should be put in the other 3 chambers. Should I keep the sponge that came with it in the first chamber where the surface skimmer is?? Should I put live rock rubble in the next one or some of the chemipure pads and phosban??? Thanks for any help.

Another question I have is how many people that have installed the hydor on their output of their pumps like it?? I have heard from a few that it is great then one negative comment that it splashes the lights. Any thoughts??

I tried it on my AP 24 and it splashed the lights. So, I dropped a small pump into the tank with the Hydor flo on it about 1/2 way down the tank. Works great.

OK cool....did you do any other changes to what all was in your chambers??

I just changed out the pump on my 12 to the 900 and also put a Flo on it. So far I like it and no issues with it splashing the lights.

So far in the back chambers all I have is the heater in the 1st and carbon in the second.

I also covered up the bottom two grates to help with skimming the surface, so far so good.

Sweet I'll have to give it a try, got an old maxijet at home just have to get it cleaned up.
