Aquapod 24 shortage???

My LFS is trying to order me an Aquapod 24 HQI 150W but he's telling me that there's a manufacturer backorder and he hasn't a clue when he'll be able to get one.

Has anyone else heard anything about this backorder? Has anyone else had trouble getting an Aquapod 24 especially the 150W metal halide?

Have you tried Dr. Fosters and Smith...they have it for $300.00 and the shipping is under $20.00. I have had good luck with this company.

is the 70w version enough light? is an actinic supplement needed? how bout moonlights? included?

With the metal halides an actinic supplement is not needed. The halides provide the entire visible spectrum as well as UV light.

As far as the 70W being enough light... It probably is, especially for most situations but I eventually want to do acroporas and tridacna clams. The 70W won't be enough to support certain species of acros though it will support some. The only real draw back I'm looking at between the 70W and 150W is heat.
