I was doing a bit of maintenance on my tank this evening and when I attempted to plug the power cord for the pump, it started making a terrible griding noise. I can't diagnose this issue. Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, how can I fix it.

Thanks.

try plugging it in again. if it dose it again, unplug it and remove the pump, remove the volute(covers the impeller) and clean the impeller and housing. reassemble and try again

when you got the tank and first set it up it wasn't all together was it? you have to disconnect the hose's and pull the pump out of the back chamber

The tank was put all together including the pump. I removed the pump and found the culprit. A broken bio ball was stuck in the propeller. My question: Since it was stuck in there and made some grinding noises for a short period of time, will this affect the flow and durability of the pump.

Thanks.

no it shouldn't as long as nothing broke. if it starts up and is running quietly you should be good to go
