aquapod hood removal

Afraid to break anything is there a position or trick to getting the top off these things?

I want to start adding extra fans and maybe another 32 watt retrofit to my 12 gallon pod but the thought of breaking the hinge stops me cold in my tracks.
Any info would be great.

checked all over the DYI forum and can not find the answer i am looking for..
It looks like it is removed in the uprite position.

I wish i knew also. But i heard over at nano-reef.com that the only way is to break somthing.

Current told me that the hood shold be at a 90 degree angle and should pop off, I'm not trying it first though, I'm thinking about going to a K2 Viper MH in about 2 weeks so when that happens, i'll let you know.

Yea if you could PM when you attempt it i would be forever in your debt . I have been poking at this thing for a week

I decided i am going to drain it as i was only leak testing and just lay it down to do my mods.

Am I missing something? Just took mine off in 5 min. Pretty obvious once you hold it open at a 90 degree angle.

The hood is attached by two bars that are held in place by "hooks." Pull the hood towards you and the bars come out. Maybe an extra set of hands can apply pressure to the hooks so that you aren't tugging away at the cheap plastic.
