Aquapods blue sponges

This is probably a stupid question but here it goes...

I know mostly everyone removes the blue sponges from the back of their Aquapods. I still have mine in and want to remove them for a healthier tank. But then what removes floating debris from the water? A protein skimmer?

Thanks:o

Filter Floss, look for info on Dr. Foster and Smith website about it. Basically does the same as the sponge but you just use a small handful and throw it away weekly with your waterchange.

Or you could simply do the cheaper and better method, IMHO!

When doing water changes use clean saltwater, or clean I,E removed water(without stuff floating in it.)

..To clean your sponges. Just forcefully rub the sponge between your hands under the water to rid it of debris accumulation. Then simply place the sponge back in.

Yeah, you,ll hear about it being a nitrate problem, but my 0 peramiters tell me what Im doing is working just fine.

Btw the way 0 peramiters = a healthy tank, and ofcourse flourishing fishes -corals etc.

Btw, thats exactly what the sponges do REMOVE DEBRIS THATS IN THE WATER a protein skimmer removes the stuff you cant even see with the naked eye.

I normally keep the blue sponges out of my ap but lately I've been making some mods and just now had a major problem with the seal on the bulkhead wall so I put them back in while I keep creating sand storms. The biggest problem I had was trying to get them out without squeezing all the crap back into the water. I trimmed about 3/8" off the face and it is now easier but I still drip some of it in the water. I also only have the top two overflows open so I only put one sponge in at a time and alternate them. That way I always have a clean one ready to go back in at water change time.

That's pretty funny because I do the exact same thing. :bum:
