I stoped out to Aquarium Adventure today, and I noticed a LOT of bubble algae growing. In both coral tanks and several others throughout the store.

no ,, its on ridge road in parma ,,,,, VERY high prices ,,,and from what i can tell they now have bubble alge for sale as well !! stay away from that place for a bit ,,,, their tanks all run on the same system ..........

Yea it was even in their show tanks outside of the section where their livestock is.

They must be trying to corner the market =)

what a novel idea! What a concept! here i thought it was bad! All this time i was throwing it out! All that money in the trash can!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! lmao!

The guy wasn't joking with you was he? I would have played along and asked him how much it was worth? I am glad I never shopped at this store.

He was serious, this was a few years ago though...to each his own I guess....there are people on ebay selling majanos as "reef safe"

Yep that place has been the brunt of many jokes, that's why it has earned the nickname of aquarium expenditure. They move tons of fish though, mostly it seems to newbies and sales pressure/ bad advice. There are 1 or 2 good people in there, but mostly problems to me. I have to admit though, I still stop in every now and then to see what they are charging (3 miles from home). They have sales twice/year that bring the prices of things back down below the stratosphere (around what others norm charge). Also don't think you will get a trade in there for something, oh they will take it off your hands (for free only) but you will still pay full price and they won't give you a dime for your trade. Nice place, really...not.

when i started my reef i had a cichlid tank prior and i wanted to tear it down because of course reef is better when i asked them about taking fish they said they will take them on donation only, I could not even get one turbo snail out if them then a couple of months later i needed something and i called them and they said they were open till 9 when i got there 10 min later at 825 they were closed i was not happy and have not been there since and wont go just thought i would share that

When I first moved to the area I was bored and picked up a second job there. Needless to say I was only there for about 1.5 months. I couldnt believe the things that happened there. Between the owners, customers and stupid things other employees would say I figured it best to stay at home and play video games. They are a total rip off and do not treat the animals well there (obviously). I tried recommending they set up a quarantine system since everything has ick there...lol and the owners told me they would rather push it out the door. That was by far the worst experience I have ever had.

I actually had an argument with another employee because they insisted on selling this guy a bamboo cat shark even though he only had a 20 gallon tank. Since I interjected in the sale and stated it wouldnt be in the animals best interest, the owner ripped into me..LOL... I didnt need the job by any means so I walked out..lol.

That place is such a damn joke its not even funny.

I also was given bad advice there when I first started, I will stop in frim time to time just to look at the poor coral selection. I did buy some nasisaris snails there last week, there diong just fine. For laughs I tested there water
1.022
amonia - 0
ph - 8.0
nitrates 50 ppm (algea huh)
The only lfs I shop at are The Salty Critter and Tropical Aquarium
Salty Critter is awesome, great selection, prices, and advice
Tropical Aquarium, not alot of dry goods, but they have been getting in some realy nice coral, they changed there supply company and can get in a good selection, fish always look healthy, and Hector gives me a fair price on frags I bring in to him.
We also have some great discussions, I don't always agree with him, but its nice to throw ideas back and forth.
Just my two cents

i lived across the street from there in brooklyn a 1 1/2 ago. the only time i went into there as because me and my wife were waiting to get into applebees. i remember me and my brother going to (his name slips my mind) the guy from salty critters house, when he was running his bisness out of his house. now i go to aquatic tech. greg has really did a hellof a job turning that place around. i was in there yesterday and he was talking to my little girl she never talks to anyone. but she was carrying on a coversation with him. living in brunswick now you would think i would go to hecters but i remember him from rms, and it really wasnt a good memory.

If you read the bottom of Aquarium adventures web site it says that "Aquarium Adventure Logo" is a registered trademark of PetLand Inc.
thats the business your dealing with

Actually, its a franchise so its not like a Petco where corporate dictates to the store. The look of the store and the logos are dictated by the parent, but the local store is owned by an some entity other then PetLand. That person or subcompany has a lot of freedom within the store.

I have a good laugh for you - AA use to buy ALOT of my frags. The first few times they gave me a store credit - not a problem. I used it on foods. Then they called one day asking for more corals - I told them that I couldn't take a store credit anymore that they had to pay me for them. I was then informed that I "wasn't in their budget" They called again a couple weeks later and we had the same discussion. They don't call anymore :-)
