Aquarium ethic's.

Aquarium ethic's.? Is it morally excepted in this forum for someone to catch fish and put them in their fish tank? Do you view this immoral? If so please explain. If not please also explain.

Not immoral if the fish are net caught but in many states, including Florida, it may be illegal.

This is what the state parks police told me WaterKeeper. Believe it or not? If you catch a non game fish to eat (game fish such as groupers have restriction sizes) its perfectly legal. If you catch them for your aquarium you need a license. My question is how do they know I will eat the fish ????

i may be wrong here...but isnt that how LOTS of the fish we buy at the stores are? I mean, not all of those are captive bred. Lots of them are wild caught. So if someone was to say that its morally unacceptable...i sure hope for their sake that they have all captive bred fish :)

I agree Dude and sadly there are still very few captive bred fish offered in the trade and the number of species is very limited at that. I think the licence law for captured fish in Florida is designed more to prevent commercial harvesting than to keep them out of a hobbyist's tank.
