Aquarium Ideas

For X-Mas I'd like to upgrade my tank - along with a powerhead or two, depending on the size of tank I go with.

Just wondering if there's anyone local (let's say within 60 miles driving distance each way from Orlando) that works with, and assembles glass tanks.

I know of GC, but just wondering if there's anyone local that does them.

Or if anyone cares - I want something that's 18" wide, can be a cube, or a rectangle. Just worried about my lights, and don't want to hang them, although it would look neater - I don't want to risk accidently hitting them by leaning in, or some freak accident.

Was thinking of a 28g cube (18x20x20). Want something at/under 30g if it's an AIO, or can possibly do something smaller with an overflow or predrilled for a small 5g sump below.

Any ideas? Just doing some planning ahead of time - so when the time rolls around, everything is in place, running and ready for transfer from my 14g AIO.

David's tanks and innovations can build it in acrylic. Don't think there are any glass tank builders in these parts. FAOIS can order glass tanks from AGE.

Thanks. If all else fails, I'll find someone to help me plump the tank to a sump to house, return pump, skimmer and a little cheato.

Then if I get the 12g Mr. Aqua tank - which would actually give me 4" in additional length, 1" more in width, and 1" less in height. But then I won't have everything crammed into the tank. It would be 18.9x12x12 of actual tank space, where as in my 14g, I calculated to be almost half the swimming space of a properly plumed 12g. I think this is the way I will be going. Just need to find some locals to make it happen, because I can't drill a tank, or add baffles to a sump. Just need to get the plans down, and start ordering the pump, tank, and parts.

However if you anyone else has any ideas, feel free to comment. :bounce1:

a 29 gallon bicoube is only 18" wide

That's what I originally was planning on. But is only actually 17.5g without the sump (according to the guy I had measure his "DT" only [not including sump measurements].

So would this work, or is it even possible? Get a smaller "DT" I found a sweet 12g rimless, low-iron glass for $65, have it drilled twice, once to get the water to the sump, once for return water. Have a 10g below my stand, housing 75% (about 15lbs) LR, my skimmer (4x4x13), return pump and some cheato? And of course a some PC lighting for LR, and cheato.

Main tank - 5lbs of sand, about 5lbs of LR, the rest for corals and swimming space.

Possible, or am I simply deaming? lol
