aquarium is bigger than stand. need some advice

Looking for some advice, just got an aquarium stand and tank, however the tank's width is bigger by a 1/2 inch. Don't know what to do

any advice will be great.

Can you place a larger piece of plywood on top of the stand?

yes.

3/4" plywood cut to the tank's OD dimensions will work fine. You could trim it out with molding to give it a finished look.

I placed the aquarium in the centre so there is a 1/4 of an extra inch on each side.

If you just got them, can you return either one for a replacement that fits?

I can, the problem is that the stand wont fit in my car now.

& the tank was on clearance.

Take it back apart and return it, I guess? Probably the easiest. Unless they don't allow returns on clearance items
