I have been searching for some good quality metal halide lights don't would leave me in the poor house. What I am looking for is a hanging pendant fixture, but every time I read into it, it suggest that I buy a ballast for the fixture. I would like to buy the fixture "ready to go" out the box. Can someone please steer me in the right direction.

How big is your tank and what do you plan on keeping in it? Those two questions will make all the difference when it comes to buying lighting.

if you are hanging a pendant, more than likely, you will have a ballast sitting on the ground or somewhere else. most pendants are just the reflectors and sockets themselves.

The tank is 100 gallon (L72 H20 W18). I plan on keeping beginner corals and moving on to move expertise corals later. I would like to go with a pendant. But is there fixture that has everything on it. I was looking at the Reefsun Dual fixture.

you can do a nice t5 setup, which will save you money as far as energy consumption, ( i would recommend a 8 bulb t5 setup) or you can go with 2 400w halides with lumerac3 reflectors or 3 250w halide would work just as good. it all depends on you preference. you have to find what you like, these are just ideas
