I am working towards setting up mt first reef. I am still in the planning stages now but I have definatly settled on Tampa Bay "package". I have a 65g aga that is currently not drilled, I am planning on getting that done and installing an internal skimmer box. I have been wandering what is best to go with a refugium or a wet/dry? and also what types of fish will be good for the package (so I can start reading and learning about them). Also what about using a wavemaker?

Welcome to RC!

I know you will be very happy with your choice in TBS. You may want to post your questions about setting up you tank in the New to the Hobby forum, you will get lots more answers there.

Personally I would go with a refugium and sump. Don't bother with any bio balls or the like. Your rock and sand will have all the bacteria filtrations you need. The refugium is for macro algae to remove phosphates and let pods repopulate. The sump is for all the equipment you don't want in your display, skimmer, heater, etc. Wavemaker check out the www.oceansmotions.com.

Fish, any reef safe fish will do fine with TBS. But not all fish do fine together, you have to research who will tolerate who. Also in a 65 gallon if you want a tang you need to choose the species that stays pretty small as a adult. If you start putting more than one in there you may catch some fire from others. They are pretty much meant for large systems. Hope this helps!

sump sump sump... any rubbermaid tub that will fit in your stand will be perfect... the wet drys are a waste of money. trust me. i lost $100 on the must have item that my lfs sold me. i recently upgraded my rubbermaid to a 20 gallon tank... $5 to $20 upgrade.
